i am a huge fan of danny gokey as well as adam lambert. i want adam lambert to win. i cried when danny gokey was eliminated. if adam lambert didn’t win american idol i will never watch american idol

I believe Krist is just as good as Adam. His voice is not as strong as Adam, but musically he is just as talented and I do believe he will do extremely well. In fact, I think he is a bit more versatile than Adam. Adam is only going to do good if he stays with Rock, but Kris will do much more in my most humble opinion. Yet, I am over 40 so who’s really paying me any attention. This younger generation has different views. Anyways just my two cents.

I have to agree with you,hotshot.Both finalists are equally good in their own ways and both will go far.Kris songs are easier on the ears and Adam also have a unique voice.He just need to watch it and tone down a bit.
It should be an enjoyable finale and best of luck to the two of them.May the better singer win.
I noticed that we have season l, 5 and 7 winners and finalists performing.Just wondering what happened to season 2 Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken?Do we ever get to see them perform on American Idol?

Adam should win the title. He is the total package. He has an incredible vocal range and control, he can sing any genre well, his arrangements make the songs his own, he has charisma and knows how to play to the camera and audience. Awesome + Amazing = Adam = American Idol

I’m voting kris because i like his type of music better, but i believe both are good i don’t know why everything has to be a bash contest. I’m a gay male but I’m voting kris just because i like him better. I think this is silly everyone has a right to there opinions and everyone has a right to vote the way they like. After all this is America. Freedom is what we all want and what are brave soldiers of this country are fighting for everyday. So everyone should be just a little kinder to everyone let them have there say. If you don’t like it don’t listen. kris is cool and all but when the 2 are compared there is no competition.
adam is way more original and a way better entertainer
plus you are able to know a lot about him and his personality and i dont know anything about kris other than he is married and hot

I go for Adam Lambert he is the best singer, his vocal range is amazing. It should have been Adam vs Danny or Adam vs. Allison rather than Adam vs. Kris. Kris can only sing a certain type of songs his vocal range is not as dynamic as Adam. Good luck Adam for me you are the CHAMPION!

The best singer is Adam Lambert. His vocal range is absolutely fantastic. He is original and can sing anything. He has an amazing personality and is always humble and respects his fellowman. And that is what Idols is about. Go Adam. My vote is for you. GO, GO, GO!

I love Kris Allen and I want him to be the next American Idol. His versatility in all aspect of musical instruments connotes a true identity of an idol. To be a singer, you must not only have a good singing voice but you must be flexible, versatile and humble and that is Kris Allen. Go Kris, Go. . . Go . . . You will win the competition.

i hope kris wins this…
i dont dislike adam..but i prefer kris’ songs…
he doesnt have to rely on a single note or trademark to make his songs unique…he has his own different style of doing so..n i like that style.
i wudnt be surprised if adam wins coz of al the publicity he’s getting from AI producers n performers..n he’s even overrated by the judges who i think shudnt b biased

Both these guys are extremely talented, but personally I think that Adam has the edge on Kris. Although we here in South Africa cannot vote for American IDOL, we follow the series with keen interest. My money is on Adam for his amazing voice range and his extremely good showmanship and composure. Fairly early during the series,I have identified him as the ultimate winner for American Idol. It should have been Danny and Adam in the finals. How the heck did Kris get in there? He is good, but ladies, he isn’t great (maybe great looking)but not a great singer. I honestly am a HUGE rock fan! Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Trapt are just a few of my favorite bands. I started off loving Adam Lambert. As the season has gone on, he has just become not so attractive musically to me. His rendition of One and Cryin highly disappointed me. Granted, Kris does not have as STRONG as a voice as Adam, but he is AMAZINGLY musically gifted. He’s very versatile and has a style that would be highly marketable. I started the season thinking Adam should win, but I have very much so changed my mind. Kris has proven to pull through even when everyone has counted him out! GO KRIS!!!!!

Also, I wanted to mention something. To all of you who are saying that if Adam loses, or Kris loses, the title that you won’t watch American Idol anymore, you need to grow up. This is a competition and the winner is chosen by US!!!!!!! If Adam gets more votes, than he’s the winner. If Kris gets more votes, than he’s the winner. Nobody should hold who wins this season against the show. Don’t be pety and childish. If you don’t like the outcome of the finale, maybe you should become an Idol executive and change the show. It’s not like this show hasn’t worked for 8 seasons now and still pull in millions of viewers. You’re right, they have a messed up way of doing this show. Seriously, GROW UP!!!!!! Whoever wins, wins! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…
Adam is a Rocker through and through. It’s pure talent to be table to control a scream and keep it on key!!! Face it people – the guy has TALENT!!! ALL of the music celebrities agree. I believe that Adam’s voice well surpasses David Lee Roth and Steven Tyler. He’s got the epitome of the rock n’ roll voice.

Just look at the votes on this site alone – 70% ADAM, 30% Kris- tells it all.
Of course there are other factors involved with the voting the way it is and people who are able to vote in the thousands and some who can only vote in the teens – we all know who is the real winner – ADAM. He stated after last week’s show that he stayed true to himself throughout the season – dressed the way he dresses, and sang the way he sings and he is soooooooo happy that voters have embraced him- just the way he is. So, I fully expect that tonight will be another blockbuster entertaining night on AI because ADAM will be himself – and we ADAM LOVERS love ‘HIMSELF.’
Hello to all the usual ADAM fans – PHYLLIS G, Mary Anne, Ron, Bubba, Frank, Jodi Mueller, and all the rest who have written some honest and provocative posts. We all learn from each other and it is so refreshing to see the enormity of what ADAM has done, crossing all the usual lines – all people loving him, defending him and embracing him without any prejudice. I think this is America’s time to shine in the world of tolerance. What better way to accomplish this than through music and entertainment – laughter and friendship.
I will miss this site and chatting with all of you when this season is over – we are friends and allies with a part of ADAM’s future in our hands- or fingers I should say – we need to rally tonight and VOTE for ADAM!!!!!!!

This is a competition viewed world wide. In the caribbean – Trinidad and Tobago to be spacific we have music that most of the world is now discovering and it is amazing- musically Adam lacks a bit, because if one take their time to look at his performances – His gesticulations are that of Elvis Presley. that takes away from his originality. I truly believe the guy can sing, just do away with the antics and Sing!!! Kris on the other hand needs to be a little more assertive and just continue doing his thing – he is a super talanted musician. I Believe he is a Winner and will be accepted worldwide- dollar for dollar his future has more dollars.

Kris also has remained true to himself. Have you seen him stray away from his jeans, plaid shirt, downhome Southern boy style? NO! He is known for being humble and making AMAZING arrangements of songs that you wouldn’t expect…..IE. Heartless. BY FAR, said by everyone, the best performance of last week out of all three contenstants INCLUDING Adam himself. As for you are saying musical celebrities say Adam….Daughtry, David Cook, Kanye, Jamie Foxx etc all said Kris was better MUSICALLY!!!!! Yes, Adam has performance over Kris by a lot! But anyone who went to the MET as a kid SHOULD have that kind of performance ability. Who was Kris before Idol? Just a southern boy who had an amazing voice. Look at how far he has come. He’s highly talented musically. He is who he is and he doesn’t try to outshine or stray from his style of music. I love rock and I really don’t have much else in my collections of albums, but I WOULD NOT own an Adam Lambert album. His screech is just much like nails on a chalk board! same with me, i will never buiy any cd of kris allen cuz his sound is just like so many musicians here. he is so stereo typed kind of guy , not original and his stage performance is lack luster even.
i really wondered too why kris allen reached the finals when it should had been allison iraheta and adam lambert for the finals.
for me, kris allen is just an ordinary singer, nothing spectacular on him.

Hello Mary Anne, glad you are on today – looks like it will be an interesting evening… I too, believe there are many, many ADAM fans in the South – there is not one single part of the country or the world that is not touched by ADAM’s talent.
A- Bass – I just wondered where you got your info from – ADAM gave credit to both Danny and Kris for doing a great job- shows his style and friendship, but I did not read anywhere that all those people said Kris was better…. do you have anything to back up your statements?
On e-online, they quoted Jamie Foxx as saying, “Adam is going to win, he is going to go stratosphere.” He did say “Kris sort of swooned me, and he added he would like to do a record with him because he is sort of understated.” I believe he gave quodos to the both of them, but predicted a win for ADAM. And ADAM has “stayed true to his music.”
Kris did a great job on “Heartless”, but not so good on “Apologize.” ADAM on the other hand did a fantastic job on all the songs he has done. I think he is more talented, but I am surely not saying Kris isn’t talented, just an average singer. Tonight we will see & hear three songs – they should all be superb – nothing short of genius….. we shall see the real talent.

When they picked the top 13 I would have bet a hundred bucks we would see an adam/danny finale or maybe an adam/allison but here we are.Adam and allison were my favs from the start.Just because I don’t care for the music that kris has performed does not mean he not talented.We all like different types of music and that’s great.If adam sang only country music and nothing else he would never get my vote cause county music is not for me even though country is huge.
My votes go to adam and even though I am a big fan I even thought it was wrong for katy perry to have his name plastered across her back.

I don’t know if you all have checked the Zabasearch website..They stand by their statement that ADAM received the most votes every night so far…Ryan had him stand by the bottom 3 that night for a little drama..Also last week, he never stated how ADAM came in but sort of made you think he came in second..Zabasearch says ADAM came in first last week also…That AI producers like to give a little added drama and excitement..Also the winner (ADAM) will be on the morning shows Thursday morning…Won’t that be exciting??

The info I got was from a news website purely for American Idol. I’m not saying that Kris is an AMAZING singer! I’m saying he’s an AMAZING ARTIST. He takes a special person to be able to put his own twist on songs. Adam was once told by SIMON himself regarding the Johnny Cash song that it was rubbish. I do love Adam’a rendition of Tracks of my Tears. However, I feel he NOW feels that need to do his signature scream on every song. He is an amazing performer and has a great voice, I just don’t think as a RECORDING ARTIST, that he would be better than Kris. That is what I am saying. I think Adam would give a wonderful live concert and would be fun. That does not say for his recording ability. It takes talent, not just singing ability, to be able to arrange a song, write a song, PLAY instruments! I think Kris is a great overall artist. He can sing, maybe not as strong as Adam, but he still can sing. He can play MULTIPLE instruments. He can arrange songs. I’m not saying that Adam is horrible, he’s not! I’m just saying as an overall, I think Kris is a better MUSICIAN!!!! I’m not saying better singer, I’m saying better MUSICIAN.

SINGING, SINGING, SINGING – playing instruments has NO part in the competition. ADAM arranges his songs, Kris has been told by the judges that he did an exact cover and did NOT make it his own – including “Apologize.” No one has ever said that about ADAM.
ADAM has the voice, the performance and the TALENT – his arrangements are incredible.

Hi Phyllis G. Things are going to get exciting as the day goes by- I can’t wait for tonight. Rolling Stone has stated that they will perform one song that is their own pick, one song that is picked for them by the show creator Simon Fuller, and the coronation song – I don’t know what that is except they both sing the same song with their own interpretation.
I don’t know where this information comes from, but it sounds about right. Rolling Stone did an article on “How ADAM can lose his spot as the favorite tonight – it was sort of interesting, but I found it to be rather dumb – ADAM wouldn’t do the things they said would cause him to lose his edge. f course, on a positive note – that means they believe he has the edge to begin with and they are agreeing that he is the favored to win.

And again, I repeat. “Apologize” was not an exact cover. An exact cover would have needed more instruments. Get your facts straight.
Kris is the better choice. It is difficult to sing and play an instrument, and even more difficult to play more than one kind of instrument (not at the same time; that would be ridiculous!) Kris has the chops, skills, and the knowledge of music theory to excel. Thankfully, he does not need to cover up flaws with theatricality. He is not perfect, but dang near close! This competition is about talent. And there is a reason why instruments are allowed. Singing and playing an instrument shows mad talent. Adam cant do that.

This is NOT called American SINGING Contest. This is AMERICAN IDOL. It is to look for an ALL AROUND ARTIST…..not just a singer. Anybody can sing, like Simon says. Anyone can sing. It’s what you do EXTRA that makes you an American Idol. As for you said about Adam NEVER being told stuff by the judges, he was told by SIMON himself, the most honest judge, that his rendition of Ring of Fire was RUBBISH! Kris has NEVER been told that when he put his OWN spin on a song, that it was horrible. He has only done basically ONE song EXACTLY like the cover, and it was Apologize. Something that was not him, and too much associated with David Archuletta from last year. Bad song choice for him. He did what he could do with it. The judges PRAISE Kris for his ability to arrange his songs AND play an instrument. Like I’ve said before, ADAM IS A STRONGER SINGER, NOT DENYING THAT ONE!!!!! But as an OVERALL ARTIST, Kris is better. The judges are CONSTANTLY saying that are looking for the WHOLE package. Adam can sing, Adam can perform….there’s no doubting that one. And like I said before, when the season started, I liked Adam a lot. As the season has gone on, I believe that Kris has shown that he is able to beat out the critics and I can tell you, his album will be big. I also though do agree Allison SHOULD NOT have gone home when she did. I’m not worried though, she’ll make an album and it will sell. Kris arranged every song EXCEPT Apologize and was told he should have changed it. HOWEVER, he learn the piano part for the song AND the guitar part for Heartless…….it takes talent to sing, and play the piano and the guitar. It’s not simple. Adam just doesn’t have that talent part to him. He has the performance talent part to him. Their are both amazing in their own aspects and they are both very talented, in different ways, but still both very talented. I’m not trying to take away from Adam’s talent. All I’m saying is that as an OVERALL package deal, like the judges are ALWAYS saying that they are looking for, Kris has more of it than Adam. That doesn’t mean that Adam is amazing in his own aspect.

Instruments were not allowed originally, due to the fact that this is a singing competition. Many contestants asked to use their instruments because they were more comfortable singing that way. So AI allowed instruments, but that is not what we are supposed to be voting on – it is a SINGING contest. As far as the comment on “exact cover and instruments” – you can have an exact cover with NO instruments and it is still an exact cover VOCALLY.

Think about this, if a person plays a few chords and sings along with their won playing, it is easier than keeping time with other musicians. When you are the guitar player and singer in one – it is only your own rhythm that you must keep up with. I am not saying that Kris doesn’t have talent, he does… if not for ADAM I would be a fan of his and at this stage in the competition, I would be a voter for him. I personally don’t think he has the talent, vocal and performance ability that ADAM has – he WOWS his audience and people around the world LOVE him.

Instruments also show versatility as an artist. I said it before, ANYBODY can be a singer. But to be an ARTIST, a MUSICIAN, it takes an instrument. Let’s talk Elvis, an amazing singer, perform, musician, I’m sure we all can agree on that one……plays the guitar! Johnny Cash, AMAZING, plays the guitar. Elton John, GREAT PERFORMER and ARTIST, plays the piano. I could go on and on! I don’t know why you people think I’m saying that Adam is horrible, cuz I’m not! One more thing, 99% of musicians, singer-songwriters, etc. play some musical instrument..The most common are piano and/or guitar…They all know the basics and a few cords, some are more accomplished than others.
Most artists perform with an instrument until they feel comfortable without using the instrument as a crutch…That is what it is most of the time..Yes, if you play piano or guitar you can see that Kris only knows a few cords to play along..He is not a Pianist nor is he a guitarist…He is a mere singer…
I’m sure ADAM plays one or more instruments but is so comfortable without playing that he prefers not to..He does not need anything at all but himself!!! GO ADAM!!!

Kris is a “good singer” but not as versatile as Adam. Kris has no power and his vocal range is limited. He is a mediocre musician. He sang and strummed rhythm guitar.. I don’t recall him playing any leads on either instrument. Kris himself admits he doesn’t play the piano/keyboards well and is self taught. Remember it’s only lately that AI permitted the contestants to play their instruments in the competition but having the ability to play an instrument is NOT A REQUIREMENT. Vocal and arrangement abilities, versatility, charisma, stage presence being able to “morph” into any genre they throw at the contestants ARE REQUIREMENTS.
ADAM has met them all in EVERY performance.

Why do people insist on bashing someone’s talent? NOT ONCE have I said anything bad about Adam. I have actually sat here and PRAISED him and said that he has an amazing, strong voice and is a wonderful performer. Why take away from someone that is able to play not one, but two instruments?!?!?! If you listen to Apologize, Kris played the WHOLE piano part of that song. If anyone is a musician, which I am myself. I’ve played piano for 15 years now, and also saxophone and drums, one would understand that it IS NOT simple to play along and sing at the same time. If he only knew a few cords, he wouldn’t have been able to perform Heartless, or She works hard for the money (HE WAS THE ONLY GUITAR OUT THERE……ALL THE MUSICIANS WERE ON STAGE WITH HIM), or Falling Slowly. Please don’t take away from someone’s ability to sing and play an instrument because it is not simple. If it was, we’d have a million Joe Who Knows Who singing and playing an instrument. And if you are saying that, then what are you saying for all the greats who play an instrument and sing at the same time? You think Johnny Cash or Elvis weren’t comfortable on stage?!?!? Seriously? I’m not bashing Adam. All I said was Kris can plays instruments. Don’t take that away from someone who LEARNED how to sing and play and instrument. It doesn’t come to you just because you are musically inclined. You have to learn.

Oh well. now I know why you like Kris better – with your ideas that there is no talent involved in singing, you should probably not watch and comment on a SINGING CONTEST.
If ANYBODY can be a singer, why do we even have a SINGING contest?
And why are some contestants better than others (without instruments).
Of course, there are talented singers, some more than others and they don’t play or have to play an instrument in order to be good. Again, people who choose to use an instrument with their singing have only their own timing to be concerned about and that does not make them more talented or more of an artist. The true SINGING artist has great vocals, arrangements, versatility, performance, tone, diction, rhythm, phrasing and has been properly trained to use his body to hold notes and perform with strength and knows when to soften his voice, knows where to put in runs, and knows how to improvise. ADAM has all of these qualities and more. Kris, although good hasn’t held a note for any length of time and his range is perfectly average. I am pointing this out, not to put Kris down, but only for comparison purposes and to make my point.

I have not “bashed” Kris in any of my posts. I simply compared the two contestants. I give credit where credit is due. Kris IS a good vocalist and his personality is likable but in my opinion – to which I am entitled and free to express in my posts here – he is not outstanding enough to merit the title of AI. To EARN the title of AI the competition requires the contestant to be OUTSTANDINGLY proficient in vocal and arrangement abilities in the various genre of music and a stage presence performance that WOWS both the audience and the judges. Whether or not the contestant is a musician is not a factor.

So yes, it takes an instrument to be a musician. When you play an instrument, you have to make sure you are in sync with the band….so not only do you have to sing, think about what chords to play, but you have to stay in sync with the band. If you don’t stay in sync with the band, you end up looking like an idiot trying to play an instrument and sing. Kris has NOT done that. And honestly, I like Adam’s style of music better. I have almost PURELY all rock albums. I’ve said good things about BOTH idol contestants. I just said that I feel that Kris is the better MUSICIAN!!!! And since the definition of a MUSICIAN is a instrument player, I think he definetly wins that one!

I just feel it is unfair to bash anyone with any musical ability, whether it is JUST singing or ability to play an instrument, with or without singing. Musical ability is a gift otherwise we’d all be on Idol and winning. Both are them are amazing in their own way. I just got really upset when someone in here tried to say that it doesn’t take talent to play an instrument, or they tried to say he does it cuz he’s no comfortable on stage. Why make excuses?!?!? Give them some credit! Do you think you could get up on a stage in front of thousands live, and then millions on tv and perform like the do? NOT EASY!!! Enough of this, we both have our views and if you agree that ADAm is a better singer, I am not sure why we are having this discussion- it is a SINGING competition. That is what AMERICAN IDOL says, not me….. otherwise every contestant would have to play an instrument just to get picked. It is A SINGING COMPETITION.

A-Bass, thank you for acknowledging my post. I have been around musicians all my life and married what I and others consider a virtuoso rock musician, who btw played in 3 various genre bands simultaneously. It’s true that one’s music ability is a gift – not everyone is blessed with that talent. A vocalist is considered a musician in his/her own right as a instrumentalist by definition.
I don’t think anyone should take offense because of another’s contestant choice. We all have various preferences. This is a discussion forum where everyone voices their own idea of who they think has earned the title of AI and why. It should not be a popularity contest – but in the end that’s what it has always turned out to be in the past AI competitions.
My personal opinion is that in the end this competition should have been Adam and Allison or Adam and Danny. I’m pleased that the competition didn’t end up that way because I think the competition would’ve been more fierce, for lack of a better word.
My choice is Adam for the title of AI because his all of his performances, not matter the genre, have been consistently original and amazingly entertaining. For Simon to give a standing ovation to Adam was not only a surprise but gave credence to the opinion that Adam was the contestant who out performed all the other contestants. Furthermore, to have ALL FOUR judges in agreement about Adam’s performance is just icing on the cake.
I say all this not to take away from Kris’ performances but to make comparison and give opine of the two contestants.
My vote has been for Adam and Allison from the very first show. Now my vote is solely for Adam whose performances have proved him to be the AI.

I’m a huge Adam fan and believe that between him and Kris that Adam is truly the most vocally talented of the two. While Kris does have a good voice, he just doesn’t perform vocally at the same level Adam does. Adam is original and has entertained us each and every week.
My concern is that those who voted for Danny (my second favorite) will combine their votes with Kris’ fans and Kris will win. If you’re an Adam fan, you need to vote, vote, vote!

Everyone hears and sees things differently and so “vive la difference”.
If we all thought and felt the same way, life would be very boring. A-Bass is right in saying that Kris is a better musician because he can play at least two instruments.
As I have said in other posts, I like both Adam and Kris and think they will both have a future in the business.
“La difference” as I see it is that I believe Adam Lambert has the potential to become an international Mega Star. This is just my opinion and only time will tell.
There are many people who have great talent but never made it to the big time. The one factor that none of us can foresee and which we must never forget, is the KEY ingredient of LUCK.
That being said, I wish both the best of luck tonight and the winner will be decided by the fast fingers of the votes so who knows.
If talent and potential are the major components, Adam should win but we will see.

A-Bass, I am with you! The Adam fanatics do twist words. And believe me, it is really hard to play an instrument and sing at the same time. I think that only singing (aka. N Sync, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Miley Cyrus, etc…. all gimmicks) is so much easier than singing and playing (aka. Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Elvis, the Beatles, Alicia Keys, John Meyer…All outstanding musicians)
There is no contest when it comes to talent: Kris is so much more talented that Adam.

The judges, who are music experts, have unanimously praised every one of Adam’s performances. Simon gave him a standing ovation – he’s NEVER done that for any other contestant. That is enough proof for me that I’m making the right choice in voting for ADAM as I have from the first voting show.

If Simon Cowell is a puppet, then why did he say he is disappointed in the voting – enough that if America doesn’t get it right he may not stay on AI. This was in last week’s TV guide magazine. He was particularly upset about last year’s upset when David Archuleta did not win, and Simon said David A should have been the American Idol. I really doubt that if he was a puppet, he would have praised David A. throughout the competition and he would not be saying these things now because I am sure the producers would like him to continue to agree with them, IF he and the others were just puppets.
This is THE reason Simon reminded everyone last week to vote for ADAM – he is truly behind him, believes he is the best SINGER (it is a singing competition after all). When the other judges all stated ADAM would be in the finals, Simon said, it is important for America to vote – and Paula could be heard restating what Simon said.
SO, I BELIEVE AMERICA HAS GOT TO GET THIS RIGHT – VOTE FOR ADAM

Courtney, Simon Cowel is so outspoken, he is no puppet, we see him in England and see the comments he makes at all contestants, he is not under anhy producer’s thumb. They have nothing to gain, especially Simon. Adam Lambert is talented, he does not need to attach an instrument to make him look good. The show relies on it’s own popularity and drama sells. Of course the producers know that and they also know that they PAY these people. If the show tanks then the judges, producers, marketers, do not get MONEY. They want the judges to be controversial because more people will watch the show that way. It is ALL about ratings. I am sure that this is all planned out in their evil minds. It is in poor taste to have the judges act in the way that they have acted recently.
I just hope that the country sees through their childish antics and notices Kris and votes him to his rightful position as the next American Idol. Because he is the only one left with true star quality.

Your remark about Simon Cowel being a puppet is so laughable. As I stated before the judge’s are music experts and their accomplishments prove my point. I’ll quote from an article I just read regarding Cowel’s biography of achievements – believe me, sweetness, he is NO puppet and neither are the other three.
“Not only has Simon made records, he also breaks them: over a ten year period, via his company ‘S Records’, he has achieved sales of over 25 million albums, over 70 top 30 records, and 17 Number 1 singles. His band ‘Westlife’ has achieved an impressive 10 Number 1 hits alone.”

Frankly, I was sympathetic to the Adam lovers who were getting hurt from the blunt comments about Adam. I was being respectful of that. It doesn’t negate the fact that this is a REALITY SHOW. If anyone doesn’t understand how the world of television works, then let me remind you that shows get cancelled if their ratings plummet. Why would the producers of a cash-cow like AI let that ever happen? You may believe in your heart of hearts that Adam is a “rock-god” as Kara spouted. You can follow that path all you want; I wont stop you. But when Adam concludes his 15 minutes of fame, he will be auditioning in the cattle calls just like all of the other washed-up reality stars.
Kris has more substance that Adam and will do well in the industry. Danny will probably outshine all of the other finalists.
So, go Kris. :^)

I take it that you do not. A cattle call is an audition where large amounts of hopefuls are amassed. The casting agents quickly go through and the odds of getting the role are frighteningly slim. THAT is the situation ADAM will be in once his 15 minutes are up.

It is reported that Simon Cowell earns between 65 and 80 million dollars per year – why in the world would he even consider a bribe. How much would someone have to pay him to have it even entice him. He is looking for talent – it is what he does………and that is how he makes his money.
If the producers have bribed him, then they bribed the other judges, too, and as it was pointed out – this would mean that ADAM is the winner.
ADAM has already become much larger than Kris – as far as the chatter he generates, on talk shows, entertainment weekly, MTV etc, The american Idol site has a screen where you see how many blogs different topics have received. Adam Lambert’s site has a staggering 11 million hits to Kris’s 2 million. 15 minutes of fame? NO WAY! He has far surpassed that already. Kris will most likely do well also, but no where near the staying power of dazzling, powerful, authentic, awesome ADAM.

#217…I agree with your comment about Simon’s words to Adam. When Adam was first, Simon could not have made the other contestants feel very good about performing after Adam. Simon’s words insinuated that Danny and Kris did not have a chance to top Adam’s performance, HOW UNFAIR SIMON WAS!!! There are times Simon should keep his mouth shut. His comments about the performances are OK but he should never ASSUME the other contestants don’t stand a chance.

I truly believe that Adam might win, but I feel Kris is going to go much further. To be sure, I would rather see Kris win tomorrow night, because he is my favorite. Adam has a lot of little gremilins that he is dealing with and they will hold in back. Kris will go international without a doubt. Both contestants have chosen the best song each performed during the knock-out stages.
Hopefully Simon Fuller will choose better songs than the judges did for the Final 3 show.
It will interesting to see how each interprets Kara’s song.
Here’s to a great show and I hope that both contestants do themselves proud.
Adam has the onstage musical performing experience but remember that Kris has appeared in clubs and worked with a band so he is no novice to performing on stage.
BTW – both Adam and Kris are very civil to and supportive of each other so perhaps some of the people who contribute to this board can be equally graceful to their “opponents”.

They are both excellent perfomers without a doubt- but Kris I think will have longevity. Adam, in my opinion will have a much shorter career.

I don’t know if you have children but I do plus grandchildren. In their lifetime, they will go to school and work with a diverse population that will include people from many cultures and, I am cetain, gay people.
The best life education I gave my children and can give my grandchildren is a tolerance and understanding and a realization that we are all different.
For those of you who use Christianity as a reason not to vote for Adam Lambert you should study the bible and note that the Gospels are clear. Jesus refused to be bound by cultural prejudice. Repeatedly, he took up the cause of the oppressed and defended them against narrow-minded religious leaders.
Read Matthew 8 in which a Roman soldier asked Jesus to heal his “pais” who was very sick. “Pais” is a term often used in ancient times to refer to a servant who was his master’s same-sex partner.
Jesus was immediately compassionate and spoke no words of exclusion or condemnation. He simply said, “I will come and heal him.”
Sorry but I am sick and tired of the fanatics on here who, frankly, are totally unchristian with their comments.
Now I think it is time to start the DVR – I hate commercials so tape the show and skip through them.

Ron, if you are still on…ADAM was his usual fabulous self…He was head and shoulders above, as usual..All the judges gave Kris pretty good reviews on some of his songs but they gave ADAM rave reviews on all three..You will enjoy the show…ADAM was the mega star, as usual…

Hello ADAM fans- he was fantastic as always, the judges didn’t have anything good to say about Kris except his first song which was pretty good, but ADAM did Mad World and he was far superior. I think the judges gave a little credence to Kris on the first song just to make it interesting. It was crystal clear that ADAM did much better than Kris – as a matter of fact it was way to obvious – the judges gave Kris an out – saying the song was too high for him for his last song, and he tanked on Marvin Gaye’s song.
I can’t get through on ADAM’s lines – maybe one vote per 20 minutes, and constant busy – very disappointing… the last time this happened, ADAM was in the bottom three – there had better not be any monkey business going on where ADAM’s lines are blocked. Is anyone else having this problem. We have 2 lines and both are the same – AT&T is our carrier and we live in Connecticut.

so far, adam lambert has an edge over kris allen.

Kris is good, or he wouldent have made it this far but in my opinnion I see adam as stronger. And Adam is more consistant Kris lucks up i believe when he has his good weeks, and Adams bad weeks are just at good as krises good weeks. AND YES ADAM IS VERSITILE, even the judges say he can sing any song and make it simply ADAM<3 He is a unique individual trying to stand up for the diffrent people in our world and I support him for that. Hi Ron(Santa Barbara) – it is all up to the middle of the country and the West Coast now. I can no longer vote and I did not get many votes in until the last 45 minutes – before that it was busy all night. I read on another site that someone was able to vote continuously for Kris – I really don’t understand this voting.. my daughter could not get through, my husband could not get through and both my sisters and their husbands,,, no cell phone calls either. We were using our landlines with AT&T carrier…. it is disappointing.

This year has been tough we have had a lot of talent. in the begining I thought it would be Alexis, Danny, and adam. Then Adam began to drive me crazy with the screaming, then there was mad world that was good, then Alexis was gone then I thought Danny vs. Adam although Adam was repeating the same thing over and over again, changing everything into some big rock song with that crazy screaming, while Kris changes week after week and he has more skills than rock. He plays piano and guitar and sings. Adam just screams and sings and is pretty. go Kris you really snuck up on me.

Honestly…Kris won the first round..Adam won the second round..and the 3rd round was a tie…that song didn’t fit quite right for either one of them, but it sounded a little better with Kris singing it. I voted for 4 hours straight…hands hurt, fingers hurt..so don’t worry if this website seems to have Adam in the lead…it’s misleading considering all the Kris fans just got done voting and could care less to a meaningless poll…I hope I have done enough to make Kris the next American Idol..if not…Kris is still my American Idol..what a season!!

I think Kris will win. He has great vocals, he is great on the eyes, he can play the piano and guitar and his voice is amazing. I would definately buy all his CD’s. Adam on the other hand cannot play an instrument and his shouting gives me a headache. He definately belongs in the theatre. I’m sure he is a nice guy but I would never buy any of his music. In my opinion, he is totally over rated. That is just my opinion though. Love the show.

Watched the semi final this evening which confirmed my thoughts on Kris. I believe he will be the next American Idol!!! He was fantastic!!! I hope he gets all the congratulations he deserves. He really does have it all. Adam is a sweet guy but really is too theatrical and needs to stop the screaming or at least tone it down a little. He looks like he is in severe pain when he sings. I wish both Kris and Adam good luck. It’s great to see that even though they are in competition together and are complete opposites, they seem to have remained friends. Good Morning ADAM fans,
It was crystal clear that ADAM is the superior singer last night, but the group who counts busy signals on the lines to give a prediction has Kris slightly ahead of ADAM. The numbers are so close that they are unable to give a prediction as to the winner.
I am disappointed because I was unable to get many calls in – it was constantly busy – sometimes I got in one vote over a half hour period and that is with 2 phones, AT&T and constant redial. I switched the final two numbers many times to see if one line was better, but without success. During the last hour, I got through many more times, but still lots of busy signals.
It will be interesting tonight.

I absolutely agree Mary Anne, and I too, will never get pulled in the way I did this year, if ADAM doesn’t win. The voting system is a joke – and it does not determine the best singer of the two, nor who America wants – only who is able to get in the most votes.
The other point that came out of this competition is how extremely narrow minded so many people are – look at posts # 349, 358, 360.
I really believe that ADAM LAMBERT will go a long way towards helping people become more tolerant of differences, but our country still has a long way to go.
Also, the fans who thought Kris actually sang his last two songs well have cotton in their ears or something…. the finale was more clear in the division of talent than any of the recent shows – ADAM has it all, and Kris really tanked. To be fair, he did a good job on his first song, but still no comparison to ADAM. And the judges made excuses for Kris – if the last song was too high for him, during rehearsal, why didn’t he (or someone) change the key for him- knowing what you can sing is all a part of the person’s talent. The reason they both do the same song on finale night is to see who can do it best. Kris can cover songs that he knows really well… I doubt he will make any impact in the music industry if he can’t sing an original song.
There are many people out there who are saying that ADAM should hope to come in second, because he will have more freedom to do what he wants. The first recording will be of Kara’s song for the winner to do… imagine If it is Kris? That song won’t go anywhere. or they will have to do a lot of work getting it presentable. It should be interesting this evening… let’s hope they announce ADAM as the winner. He is the WORLD IDOL anyway.

Judging the performances myself, i’ll give credit to Kris Allen for Round 1.
But Round 2 and 3 goes to Adam Lambert. He was simply breath taking and spectacular. i was crying myself while watching his faultless performances.
I just wish and pray to God Almighty that Adam will win as the american idol.

What about that song that Kara co-wrote? I thought is stunk! It was defintely written for Adam’s voice which isn’t fair, and yes Kris should have sang that song in a key or two lower. I really didn’t like the song with either of them singing it.

They are both great, however the sound system for Adam had the advantage, Adam is good but my opinion everything he does is almost always the same. I feel Kris is the more talented one as he can play so many instruments.

I do not understand how they couldn’t transpose the song down for Kris. The band is phenomenal; how hard whould that have been? Adam gets the frilly sets and dry ice; they can at least give Kris the transposition.

I would not be excited if you could get through constantly last night – that means that the lines weren’t getting enough calls to fill them up. Kris did a fantastic job last night. He clearly sung his butt off. I was shocked that the producers didn’t bother to transpose the last song down for him. But they had the time to provide special effects for Adam. Go figure. And according to DialIdol Kris has received more phone votes. So, if text voting mirrors phone voting, which is logical, then Kris has won. Kris deserves to win. He won the battle last night, clearly. Adam just sounded wrong, especially in the Sam Cook song. He was like a fish out of water. Kris was better suited for the last song too. I am so happy for him! That single is going to sell like hotcakes!

Good Morning Phyllis G.. I text voted for the full 4 hrs and got confirmation that my 912 votes for Adam were received. He rocked my world last night as usual. He’s the epitome of an American Idol… the whole package.

Wendy, for your information, the sets,and etc, and the transposition of songs belongs to the contestant who asks for it – the producers didn’t try to sabotage Kris – he did a magnificent job of that on his own, he can’t hold a candle to ADAM. He should have asked them to lower the key for him, but he wanted to sing it the way he did and it wasn’t good. So don’t use the excuse that the producers didn’t work with him. He didn’t work with him. I know you have your opinion, but everyone, everywhere is saying that ADAM should win because Kris proved that he does not have the voice and the talent, he did a poor job on the last two songs. And just so you know, I have always said (in the past) that he has talent, just not the “IT” or the “WOW” factor which equals = boredom. He has had a rocky on again off again throughout the whole competition, last night was the proof.
Adam does not NEED to win this competition to be a star – in fact it is said, he may be better if he does not win, but Kris on the other hand has miles to go before he could become a star.

Chris W – odds are high that the text voting will either mirror the phone voting or that Kris will receive more texts than Adam. Think about who texts the most… And if you really did read the DialIdol message, they pointed out the Kris was leading in the measurements during the final hour and for most of the voting and that shows that the estimation could be more accurate than we think.

dialidol stated that they can’t count texts only busy signal which they translate into votes. This is not, according to them an exact method, so when the votes are close, they cannot make any predictions. It is only when they are very far apart that they can be more predictive.
No matter, we will find out tonight…. the fact that Kris got that many votes is unnerving at best. America got it wrong again… even if the final tally is for ADAM, the fact that there are that many Americans who voted for the wrong guy means there are a lot of people who cannot “hear” music. I think that is sad. Coupled with the people who voted for all the wrong reasons and they think a person sings better because he strums a guitar – well, enough said on that subject.

Wendy, Have you not listened at all to the comments – reread them as storm put them here for us. And the contestants are always judged on how they changed the song to make it their own. If you have ever listened to the interviews, they talk about the arrangements that they work on with the band – starting on the first day and then it is rehearsed over and over until the CONTESTANT has it where they wanted it. And ADAM has thanked the people who helped him with the arrangements. When Simon picked “One” for ADAM, Simon helped him with the arrangement and Simon criticized the other judges for not doing the same for their choices. They all have the same opportunities.
Remember when Kris did the Beatle song? He stated that he originally picked a different song and changed his mind – the other song just didn’t work out for him. So they have everything to say about how it is done – and work on it until they get it the way THEY want.
So, let’s see if I understand you properly, the last song was too high for Kris, the producers didn’t help him – blah, blah sour grapes – he didn’t do a good job, end of story.

Both Adam and Kris are amazing. Equally so in their own rights. Adam appeals to one group- Kris to another. People saying Kris cannot sing or is not talented are just being defensive and insecure in their choice and the same applies to those critiquing Adam. Both boys have serious talent! It has boiled down to taste in music so I do not understand why people are saying if so and so doesn’t win there is no justice or they won’t watch Idol ever again or people are narrow minded. Either way, both boys are promised a great future. Neither one needs to win Idol now to succeed so who ever wins really doesn’t matter. I voted Kris. I prefer his softer style. The only reason why I might not have seen every second of the competition this year is because I was in rehearsals for my performances, but I have seen every show and have seen the seasons prior. I am very comfortable with my choice of American Idol, and it is clear that I am not alone as there are MILLIONS who feel the way that I do.

Hey Phyliss G(Las Vegas), Ronnie Chan, Chris w., and Kathleen F. and all the other Adam fans who’ve posted here today – for the most part this discussion board has been fun with everyone voicing their preferences and the reasons to back up their preferences without putting the other contestant down in a mean spirited manner.
I’m a total Adam fan and have been since the first show. Kris and Adam have befriended each other even though they are in competition with each other. If they ever took a peek at these messages in the last couple of days I’m sure they have had a few chuckles. I’m also sure that Adam is proud of the way his fans have conducted themselves here. I have to wonder, though, what Kris would think of a FEW (I’m sure they know who they are) of his fan’s childish, mean spirited attitudes. He is such a sweet and humble guy I’m sure he would be both embarrassed and appalled by their rude behavior and mean spirited attitudes towards his opponent and his fans.
At this point of the competition the two contestant’s talent have been thrown to the wayside and it’s become a popularity contest. How sad after all their hard work.
Perhaps AI can come up with a better system of choosing the contestant who displays the total package requirement for the American Idol of 2010.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt, as the saying goes. I don’t consider myself an Adam partisan, just someone who recognizes that Adam is by far the more charismatic performer. None of the Tuesday songs blew me away, but they all just reinforced the fact that Kris is a nice guy who sings and Adam is a Performer.
I know Adam and Kris do different things; Adam is the theatrical guy and Kris is the coffeehouse crooner. Both of them could find success in their respective realms. But Adam has the charisma and the presence that Kris lacks. Adam, quite simply, has the potential to be a world-wide mega-star, and Kris just doesn’t. End of story.
So, during Wednesday’s finale, I’m sure we’ll be told that once again that the two contestants got a total 85 kajillion votes, an interplanetary record, blah blah blah. What they won’t tell you, because they never release the vote totals, is that Adam will be the winner in a landslide.

Maureen Ryan is a master of pulling on the emotional strings of her readers. Reporters are out there looking for the story that will get the most attention. Well, a partisan article like that will get attention, at least. It is a bunch of bologna, though. It is simply her opinion, which I believe to be completely wrong.

Hi Donna (Ft. Lauderdale) – I agree with the popularity thing…. if you read the American Idol website, the after show interviews with ADAM and Kris tells it all. They both asked that America not vote because of a person’s religion, or gender, or personality, but— they asked that the votes be for the SINGING.
We all know that if America did what these two remarkable young men asked, then ADAM would be the winner hands down.

Seems like all the commentators are of the same opinion that Adam will win the title. By commentators I mean TV talk shows and columnists. I haven’t found one article or have I seen a talk show to the contrary yet. I’m still looking. Although the commentators and columnists aren’t the ones who decide the outcome… unless, of course they took part in the voting.

Lance- how were you able to vote that many times – I wrote earlier that I couldn’t get through – busy most of the time. I have AT&T landline and my cell carrier is Verizon – no calls got through on Verizon.

At the moment I’m watching a program “Idol Tonight” on a satellite station. They’re interviewing past year’s contestants and virtually all of the ones who would actually reveal their opinion about who will win to night, have the opinion that Adam will win. I tend to believe that people who have made it in the music industry know what it takes to get there.

I think the best way to vote is to text. As I said earlier, I text voted 912 times in the 4 hours the polls were open. What’s good about that is they send a confirmation that the texts were received.

My husband, daughter, 2 sisters and brother in laws and I tried for 4 hours and got through about 30 times until the last 45 minutes and we got through a few more times. My daughter, sisters and their husbands were calling from their own homes – all in Connecticut – I read that the West Coast calls went through the best, but who knows if this is even true……..

Kathleen F., perhaps AI should work a deal with the a few of the top cell phone providers so that everyone who uses a cell phone has the option to text their votes.
Virtually everyone I know up and down the east coast owns a cell phone. Not all use AT&T though. Verizon and Sprint are the other two main providers. Doesn’t seem fair that AT&T customers have the edge.

I gave verizon wireless and NONE of my calls went through..always busy, my daughter from Washington DC had the same problem. I am from the NE of PA, so is that the problem? All cell phone carriers should allow texting the vote. I never got one vote in for Adam last night and that is a shame..I have watched the show since the beginning and every week have voted for Adam and the one night it mattes, no one in my family could get through.
Hope Adam wins..Kris is a doll, too, though not as talented in the singing area as Adam..great musician though

Earlier today I wrote this on American Idol’s website in a forum titled “ADAM IS A CLASS ACT, WE, HIS FANS WILL BE TOO:”
“We have all learned from ADAM on this season’s American Idol. He showed true friendship to the nation, he showed the world how important it is to remain true to yourself, he showed by his example how to be humble, yet sure of himself, he made the world take notice of tolerance…..
As his fans, we have him to thank for all these things and also the gift of his voice, sweet personality, politeness, smile, beautiful face and overall attractiveness and his wonderful performances that stirred a nation and the world.
Since he showcases tolerance, we all need to do the same. He is a class act, and in a class by himself.”
Many people responded and even copied my post – to request that ADAM fans act classy like ADAM, and not to do anything that would reflect badly on him. Many people wrote that we have been classy fans and not “bashers.” Let’s continue to do the same, even if the vote doesn’t turn out the way we want, or conversely, if it does, there will be no room for gloating. I pledge to not respond to anyone where it will not be classy like ADAM.

Hi Kathleen F, I heard that the entire show was broadcast live on our national satellite channel, but all of South Africa was obviously in dreamland at that time. I know the result but will try and keep it for myself until tonight when it will be screened again during peak time.

For the Adam fans I say all he has lost is the title of “American Idol” but he is a winner in is own rights. the important thing is he got to showcase his talent and the right people took notice.
Kris was my Idol from the remaining seven, and as the cuts continued I became more convinced he would have won- the guy has MAD Talent. Whatever he sings he brings to life because he puts a lot of passion into it. Hats off to him.
However for both Kris and Adam it was nothing but a Win Win situation. There was no losers they both have their unique style and they are destine to succeed.

This is the best finale I have ever seen on any show..Adam with Kiss and Queen—how cool was that? He is a true artist..congrats to Kris, I did not vote for him (although I did not vote for anyone the last night since Verizon phones could not get through for four hours), but Kris is a nice guy, and very humble. Kris and Adam reminded me of Dave and Dave last year..those two really cared about each other and had respect for each other, just like Kris and Adam did. Neither one of them are losers..they are both winners..by the way, how about Alison and Cindi last night? That girl is so talented..and the way she dances, awesome..it was so nice to see Alexis back again..she should have gone a lot farther than she did..also, why dont all the finalist tour? Why only the top ten? Seems to me, that Alexis would only add to that show. Congrats to Kris and Adam..you are both humble, talented and will go far..although Adam is still my fav

OMG YL your post #478 and Kathy #482 are exactly what I was going to post. I didn’t vote for Kris but I congratulate him. It broke my heart when the first words out of his mouth were “Adam should get this” or something like that. I could see those two really bonded a friendship.
The show was SPECTACULAR!!! I was blown away from start to finish. But the BEST part was the Queen segment. O M G!!! Like YL it brought tears to my eyes. Adam was at the top of his game last night. I can’t wait to see what he does NEXT.

Adam Lambert Loses, Homophobia Wins
The best singer didn’t win a freaking singing contest.
When Kris Allen defeated Adam Lambert as the Season 8 “American Idol,” it was, as predicted, a seismic upset. The Chicago Sun-Times said, “David slayed Goliath.” Endless bloggers posted reactions like “The biggest robbery since Bush stole the election” and “The end of American Idol’s last hope at relevance.”
Everyone, from the judges to Google to Yahoo to the Vegas odds makers, predicted a Lambert victory. They were right, and everyone knows it. In the end homophobia won, and everyone knows it.
Yes, homophobia is alive and well, which is why Lambert lost the ultimate title. Go ahead — give me another reason. Yes, Lambert is over the top and screams a lot and is campier than Liberace at Radio City. Sure, Kris Allen is a cutie, and has pleasant enough vocals, and he’s nice. But a better singer, or performer, than Lambert? Please.
By anyone’s estimation, Lambert was the best vocalist of the entire Idol season and one of the best, if not the best, in the history of the program. He towered over every contestant, exposing them as the amateurs they are. Every Lambert performance was an event. If this competition were only about singing, he crushed everyone else the second he walked onstage.
Kris Allen is a very affable and attractive young man. He is a decent vocalist with a very limited range and marginal talents. He should have made it to 3rd place at best. Time will tell if he reaches the level of John Mayer or Jack Johnson.
The final round, if vocals were the actual standard, should have been Lambert and Allison Iraheta, the precocious 17 year old with the whisky crusted Janis Joplin voice. But vocals, as evidenced by this and other Idol seasons, are not the final standard. In the end, a ‘likeability’ factor intrudes, turning ‘Idol’ into the Miss America Pageant or, more realistically, the high school Homecoming coronation.
Melinda Doolittle lost to Jordin Sparks. Chris Daughtry lost to Taylor Hicks. Jennifer Hudson lost to … anyone. It’s a real shame that Idol is decided by the public and not just music professionals, because let’s face it, the voting public is not that bright. The public voted George W. Bush twice as president. The public thinks Halliburton is Liz Taylor and Richard Burton’s daughter. The public votes on who they want to ‘hang out’ with.
In that event, Allen won by a landslide. Lambert hangs out with kinky L.A. theatre folk who dress wierd, stay out all night, and possibly do drugs and get into compromising positions. Allen hangs out at a local Arkansas bar, has a beer or two, strums a song, and then goes home to wedded Christian bliss. (Of course, I’d rather hang with Lambert’s crowd. How much fun do you think they are? Are you kidding?)
If the contestants had zero backstory, Lambert would have decimated the competition. Instead, Allen’s Christianity, church roots and corn-fed wife were exploited, as were Lambert’s musical theatre roots (i.e. his ‘theatre fag’ history). He didn’t say a word about his sexuality, but didn’t need to. For that we had the Internet, zapping anyone’s private photo library to the world, so photos of Lambert swapping saliva with a guy went viral, as well as a lot of his very strange yet riveting LA cabaret performances, turning off the homophobic majority.
Yes, a majority of the country is homophobic. If it weren’t, gays would have had their rights back in the 90s when the Europeans got them. We wouldn’t have a majority of states with a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. We wouldn’t be fighting for even rudimentary domestic partnership laws in some cities and states. We wouldn’t have anti-gay imbeciles like Maggie Gallagher, Peter LaBarbera, Matt Barber or the “God Hates Fags” morons getting publicity. Yep, if American weren’t homophobic, Lambert would be waving to the crowds from a convertible.
Bill O’Reilly, a homophobe who knows what plays to his old white guy audience, did at least two features on Lambert’s sexuality, creating an issue where none needed exist. He first brought up the Internet photos of Lambert kissing a guy and asked if this would be a “problem” for America, an America who might not have even thought about it until O’Reilly brought it up. And right before the Idol finale he brought on Newsweek’s Ramin Setoodeh, author of an article about the “Christian vote” going to Allen, again planting a seed in a public who might not previously have thought of it. O’Reilly is a skilled propagandist, warning us against the evils of the secular world before they even entered our minds. And Steoodeh wrote, post ‘Idol,” about reasons why Lambert may have lost, neglecting to mention how he himself may have contributed.
I’m sorry a simple musical theatre actor from California and a simple guitar strummer from Arkansas have to bear this cultural burden, but there it is. Despite Allen’s pleading that “It’s about music, it’s not about religion and all that kind of stuff,” it is indeed about religion and all that kind of stuff. Danny Gokey’s pastor Twittered, “We need a believer to represent.” Even Rev. Ted Haggard, the most frightened homosexual in America, Twittered that he wanted Allen to win. A Lambert win would have scared the bejeezus out of him.
Conservatives are all still stinging from their defeat at the polls in November. They wanted something to take home. They couldn’t possibly let a guy who wears eyeliner and nail polish win, no matter how astoundingly talented he is.
It is to Lambert’s credit and astounding talent that he got this far, and the media sensation he has created ensures him a very exciting post-Idol career. He’s a phenomenon who has earned every bit of ink he has created. He made ‘Idol” relevant again. His outrageous performances woke up a sleeping audience.
And he made, without really trying, a great leap for gays in America. The American public learned his sexuality early on and still voted for him into the finals, even if they were too scared to give him the ultimate prize. But they obviously had their limits. Perhaps if he hadn’t sung his finale “Mad World” performance in that ‘Basketball Diaries’ cloak, which made us fear he was a misunderstood youth about to pull out a semiautomatic and open fire on the tweens in the mosh pit, he would have won.
Even Kris Allen, at the end, said, “Adam deserves this. I’m sorry.” It’s Allen who will have to endure the publicity of how it really should have been Lambert up there. He’s a nice guy and doesn’t deserve it. He should enjoy his victory. But he was competing against Goliath, and these things happen. David himself would have had to deal with the fallout

OMG YL!! Your post ROCKS!! AI has a link to voice one’s opinion as to whether or not Adam got robbed. Hopefully the powers that be will actually read the posts there. Everyone is basically disgusted about the outcome for various reasons but mainly faulted the voting system. As huge as AI is I’m sure they can obtain software that allows one vote per person. I venture to say that virtually everyone in America is in possession of a cell phone. Once the vote is called or texted in that number could be blocked. I know that will leave out people who only have land lines but they have to be in the minority. AI has the time and the resources to come up with a fail safe method of improving the voting system.
Turning a talent competition into a popularity contest has got to stop or American Idol will become a joke and lose the majority of it’s viewers.

Donna I so agree with you..I have verizon and I tried for four hours to get through on Adams three lines, but not once did it go through..I was calling from PA. My daughter in DC also with verizon tried for four hours for Adam and none of hers went through either. How can all three lines be busy for four hours. Where did you see the link on AI about whether or not Adam got robbed…I think so if two people could not get through for four hours what was the problem????? Voting issues have always plagued this show..What about Dancing with the stars, you can email your choice, phone it in, text it in, but you have a limit of how many calls/emails, etc you can do. Adam should have won..not that Kris is bad, he is not..he is very sweet and has a wonderful voice, but an entertainer??? No way…Adam should have won and he was so gracious..what a gentlemen. Let me know how I find that link on AI about Adam being ripped off. Thanks. I will miss this blog every day…I cannot wait for next year. I wish they were like Dancing with the Stars and had two separate shows per year..that would be awesome.

At this point I think it is next to impossible. Yet, I hope that AI realizes that a show must have credibility to rate and to keep the money coming and the charities fed. I actually felt that when CHRIS DAUGHTRY got booted in AI Season 5. I did not watch AI for the next 2 Seasons. But when I saw ADAM LAMBERT I knew I needed to watch and as it turned out nothing’s changed…

If it is any comfort for the fabulous ADAM LAMBERT fans. DON’T BE SAD! ADAM HAS ALREADY HAD 5 producers offer him a recording deal. And ADAM will not compromise him self. HE SAID ” QUOTE” I AM WHO I AM. AND I WILL NOT CHANGE MY SINGING STYE OR ANYTHING ESLE FOR ANYONE! He went on to say he changes his songs up. And he is right. He is cool and can sing anything. HE SAID HE IS GLAD HE DID NOT WIN AMERICAN IDOL!! HE DOES NOT NEED IT. AND HE WILL NOT BE PUT IN A BOX. He said Kris is a really nice young man. Complaints about unfair voting tactics in last week’s AMERICAN IDOL finale bubbled out of the blogosphere and surfaced nationally Wenesday, but the shows producers and ( SPONSOR AT&T) defended the vote that resulted in Kris Allen winning the title. In it’s coverage of the Idol frenzy locally, the Arkansas Democrate – Gazette reported on May 20, that AT&T, A Coporate sponsor of the televized competition, provided MORE THAN 30 cell phones as well as instruction on “POWER TEXTING” at a party at the Peabody Little Rock Hotel on the competitions final performance night, May 19 th. POWER TEXTING REFERS TO METHODS BY WHICH A CALLER CAN SEND AS MANY AS 10 VOTES AT ONCE!!!!!!!! A T&T reprensentatives also made 50 TEXT-READY PHONES available at a watch party at Conway’s Estes Stadium and provided a cell-phone charging station, the news paper reported!! AT&T’s mobile-phone network IS THE ONLY ONE ON WHICH IDOL WATCHERS CAN CAST VOTES THROUGH TEXT MESSAGES!!!!!!!!!! supporters of runner-up Adam Lambert claimed voting irregularities on Internet chat boards, according to a story in Wenesday’s New York Times. In a prepared statement Wenesday, Fox Broadcasting Co.said, ” Fox and the producers of AMERICAN IDOL are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is without a doubt, the American Idol !!!!!!!!! Fox has a third party-system in place to ensure that votes are fair, and there’s NO WAY THAT A FEW INDIVIDUALS COULD HAVE TAINTED THE PROCESS, THE COMPANY ADDED!!!! At the Peabody watch party Bobbie Kierna of Greenbriar VOTED 10,840 TIMES ON ONE OF THE PHONES PROVIDED BY AT&T “AT A ROPED OFF AREA WITH SIGNS ADVERTISING IT AS A ” TEXTING ZONE FOR ALLEN, WHO WAS IN SCHOOL WITH HER DAUGHTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS!!!!!!! ADAM LAMBERT FANS READ ALL OF THIS AND DO THE MATH!!!!! A handful of AT&T staff members were there, handing out fliers and TEACHING PEOPLE_ (NOW GET THIS!!!) TO POWER TEXT!!!!!!!!!! WOW! iS IT STILL FAIR ADAM LAMBERT FANS? At Estes Stadium at UCA, a handful OF AT&T STAFF MEMBERS WEARING POLO SHIRTS WIT THE AT&T LOGO SET UP A COUPLE OF TABLES, SIGNS AND A CHARGING STATION FOR CELL PHONES!!!!! Sonja Keith an organizer for the Kris Allen Kick Awesome Task force said she had talked to a local AT&T representative about problems with getting through to AMERICAN IDOL voting lines at a previous watch party, as well as trying to secure prizes as giveaways, when he mentioned that the representatives would be at the Peabody watch party and could also go to Conway.. SOUND GOOD YET ADAM LAMBERT FANS??? In a prepared statement Wenesday on the allegations, AT&T said ” In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community!!!! caught up IN THE ENTHUSIASM OF ROOTING FOR THEIR HOME TOWN CONTESTANT, THEY BROUGHT A SMALL NUMBER OF DEMO PHONES WITH THEM AND PROVIDED TEXTING TUTORIALS TO THOSE WHO WERE INTERESTED!!! ” Kevin Kelly siad on the local Fox TV Net work evening news THAT ” NO PHONES WERE TAKEN TO ADAM LAMBERTS HOME TOWN!!! It is sad to hear how bitter Adam fanatics are. Even now, you have to cry foul. But where was the foul? Were you unable to vote as much as Kris fans obviously did? So sorry. Why didn’t you take advantage of available technology? I really don’t understand why you all are still so pathetic. Get over it. Kris won and Adam lost.

TO BE HONEST IF YOUR FOLLOWING KRIS…ITS ALMOST PATHETIC THE WAY HE IS RECEIVED AND THE WAY THAT ADAM IS….I TRULY FEEL BAD FOR KRIS BECAUSE I DO LIKE HIM BUT ITS SO OBVIOUS THAT THE AUDIENCES GO WILD FOR ADAM AND POLITE FOR KRIS…..ONLY TIME WILL TELL WHICH ONE OF THESE TWO WILL REALLY MAKE IT IN THE BUSINESS…..I DO WISH THEM BOTH SUCCESS….

Phyllis G(LAS VEGAS, NV) AND (DONNA FORT Lauderdale.) Hi THIS IS SHERRY. MY POST IS DIRECTLY OUT OF THE ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT GAZETTE. Adam Is telling us to not be upset! I thank-You guys for your friendship through this whole mess! Donna and Phyllis! Hope all of you are well and doing good. It really was cheating what they did here in Arkansas! I live in Little Rock, Ar. I am a person of integrity. And even if Adam who I consider a SUPERSTAR is content that’s good. But I consider what happened a matter of principle!! I would like to know where to send “Simon Fuller producer of American Idol “) an email telling him how I feel about their cheating and their sponser AT&T cheating for Kris. I feel sorry for Kris because he knows they cheated down here in his home town of Conway Arkansas. He is a christian and I am sure it upsets him. He is talented. But no where near as talented as ADAM LAMBERT. I joined an ADAM LAMBERT FAN CLUB. It is really cool. Adam talks to his fans and tells us not to be up set. That he has had many lucrative offers and the next chapter of his life is just beginning! I love all you guys! We did the best we could for Adam. and now we can wait and watch his career zoom.
