The American Idol Top 8 know they wouldn’t still be on the show without the support of their fans and they discussed that importance this week with FOX Audio Central. Check out what each of the finalists had to say about having a fan following and what it means to them to know they’re being cheered on by viewers at home.

Alex Preston: “The fact that I have a fan base is pretty incredible. I started the show and I gained about, you know, 10,000 so far. And so I’m almost at 15,000 Twitter followers, and that’s just incredible to me. Like it’s so cool how passionate people are about what I do because I, ‘cause I’m passionate about it too.”

Caleb Johnson: “It’s awesome. I mean they’re there supporting you 100% because they believe in you. They believe in your confidence, you know. It comes through to them and then that gives them belief in their lives which I think is amazing, you know.”

CJ Harris: “That means the world to me for me, you know, being able to inspire somebody just like somebody has inspired me. I’ve been waiting on the day that I can, you know, inspire somebody else, and you know, it came so quick and I’m just, I’m happy and I’m so excited.”

Dexter Roberts: “There’s no words to describe it really. It’s just really crazy. Crazy’s the word because this stuff don’t – it it’s never happened before.”

Jena Irene: “I think that fans, you know, especially throughout everything, I mean I know people experience this every single day, but just to actually have people that don’t even know you follow you and tell you that you’re an inspiration to them and that they love you so much, it’s just, you can’t have a bad day, you know what I mean, ‘cause there’s so many compliments, you know, getting thrown at you. And whenever you’re in a bad mood, just, you just read your Twitter and it’s awesome.”

Jessica Meuse: “I have the best fans ever. I just do and there’s really no word for it, but they’re better than the best because they’ve supported me, most of them who knew of me have been there since day one. So I know that they’re going to be there until my final day, and they’re going to even push me beyond that. Like I want to leave something behind even after I’m gone, and I believe that because I stand for something and because my fans stand for something because that’s the thing, we share that in common. We both want to change the world and I think we’re doing a pretty good job.”

Malaya Watson: “To come from like a place where everybody thought I was weird to now everybody likes me being weird, it’s so crazy and like the social networks grow like every 30 minutes. I gained, maybe 30 followers maybe every 30 minutes. The fact of the matter is, it’s just crazy. Like this has never happened to me before.”

Sam Woolf: “Yeah, that’s definitely, I love all the support, so… Amazing. It’s great. I love them.”

Well Dexter and Sam seem lost for words, but the rest of the contestants get what’s up. Though Dexter is probably right, this must all seem “crazy” to the singers suddenly finding themselves on the American Idol stage!
