* UPDATE: Find out who went home in our full recap of the Top 7 results show here!

We’re going to give this whole Top 8 elimination thing another try this week after the Judges surprised us with their use of the Save. So which Top 8 will move on to the Top 7? Your votes in our Top 8 poll are predicting some up and down trends this week.

Crushing the competition is Caleb Johnson way up at 32% of the vote with his performance last night and I’m not surprised at all. He had a great showing and got to do it in the pimp spot which makes things all that much better for him. He’s definitely going to be safe.

Now according to your votes, the next two singers to be safe will be Sam Woolf and Malaya Watson coming in at 17% and 12%, respectively. Those numbers seem a little high for those two after last night’s performances. Malaya didn’t have her best night, but she could be riding high on past goodwill with her fans. Now Sam, I don’t know about Sam. Yes, he was voted out last week and Saved, but it was his second trip to the bottom. If the first Bottom 3 visit didn’t snap his fans awake then why would a vote-out? We shall see.

Hanging in the middle are Alex Preston and Jena Irene with 10% and 9%, respectively. That seems pretty reasonable and I’d expect them to be safe, but if they’re low here then it’s always possible for them to be even lower in the real deal.

Based on our poll, readers are putting CJ Harris at the bottom with 4% and Dexter Roberts at 5% just behind him. Both have traveled to the bottom of the votes before and these would not be a surprise. I really thought Dexter would get a bigger bounce from his fun performance last night, but maybe not. Rounding out your Bottom 3 would be Jessica Meuse at just 7% of the votes here.

Parts of these results are surprising while others don’t seem that far off. I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see Sam voted out again this week, but maybe that really was what it took to get his fans voting and CJ or Dexter could find himself saying goodbye tonight.

Who do you think will be voted off tonight’s results show?

We’ll be live blogging what happens tonight on American Idol with the voting results, so keep checking back here starting at 9PM ET for the spoilers!

  1. Caleb, Jena, Jessica, Alex are safe. Along with Sam and Malaya. CJ is going to be eliminated.

    • I concur Kazuto. I don’t even think Sam will be in bottom 3 this week. I think CJ will be gone as well (maybe Dexter).

      • Yeah Sam probably will ride the save wave this week and maybe the next if he pulls out something good, i actually like sam, he’s played too many safe performances. Which is fine, but it tends to get old and boring. And he will change parts of the song which is nice. I’m waiting for the moment when he does something unexpected. Like Dexter too he’s too safe, he’s a great singer but he’s not an original singer.

  2. CJ STINKS! I THINK THIS IS THE WORSE AMERICAN IDOL EVER.THE JUDGES ARE A BUNCH OF CLOWNS!

    • I don’t think he is the worst ever, but I do think he is off key a lot. It’s not that I don’t like him but I’m not sure how he is even still around at this point compared to the others. I like the judges, but I think they pick on Jessica and Alex a lot, and praise CJ & Malaya, even though they are often not consistent. It boggles my mind. Apparently I am not alone in my thinking based on the voting.

  3. I don’t get why so many don’t like Sam Wolff. He’s very talented. He sings beautifully technically and has a very nice voice. I can’t say that about a lot if the others. Sams problem is his shyness. But that’s due to his youth. The others either scream (Caleb) or are off key or have little control of their vocals (Malaya) or are sharp or just can’t sing very well and are there way past their prime (C.J).

    • Sam does have a nice voice, Harry told him to watch Ricky Nelson, but I think he should look up and listen to Kenny Loggins. I would love Sam to sing Keep The Fire.

      • I think Harry said Ricky Nelson because Sam looks and performs very much like him already. I think he meant stylistically. (Kenny Loggins is my favorite of all time 🙂 Has he ever mentored on this show?)

    • Alex is never off key! 🙂 Sam’s got a good voice & he has to be talented to get into Berklee School of Music as he has. That’s a very hard school to get accepted to. He’s a bit boring or “stiff” but I think he will grow out of that. He actually is starting to already. I think Sam is safe this week. I don’t even think he will be in the bottom 3. In my opinion 🙂

    • I love Sam hes so much like Ricky Nelson hes the best looking too keeps improving too

  4. Caleb, Jessica, Alex, and Jena will be safe. Sam will most likely be safe as well. C.J., Dexter, and Malaya are most likely the Bottom 3, with C.J. going home. There are just too many tuning errors.

  5. Sam will surely be safe tonight. He’s improving every week. He’s shyness is what I love the most, not to mention his other qualities that make the entire packages possible to even win the title of American Idol if he continues to improve his craft every performance. I really enjoy watching AI because of Sam. His voice is very captivating more so with his whole persona when performing!

  6. Sam has improved a lot from last week. He will not be going home tonight. He has the best singing voice…I would download his songs in a heartbeat!
