American Idol Recap: Top 8 Performs And The Judges Save One

Tristan McIntosh, “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Smart of her to sit at the piano. She needed to pick the right song and pull it off just right to have any shot at staying next week. This was definitely her best performance to date. It wasn’t even close to being the best of the night, but it was her best. Keith and Jennifer, pressed for time, say they love the song and Harry says she’s really a country singer.

Now the bottom three perform for the judges’ save (aka we found out Gianna was in the bottom 3 and we want to save her).

Avalon Young, “Earned It.” I love that she picked this song. It was perfect for her voice and she seemed really comfortable and it became clear just how great her voice is. She’s got a great tone. This was my favorite performance by her. Here’s to hoping the judges spare her since she was probably not in the bottom two. Jennifer and Harry both seem to think she made the right choices. Keith likes that she knows who she is. It’s sounding good for her.

Olivia Rox, “Trouble.” I don’t know why she chose this song when so much is at stake. I think it all seemed pretty fake. She was putting a show, trying to be a bad girl, and it wasn’t believable at all. She was one of the judges’ four picks for the Top 10, but I don’t think they’ll be saving her this time around. This wasn’t as good as Avalon’s. Harry implies that Olivia won’t stay over Avalon. Keith says she’s making this decision tough and JLo agrees.

Gianna Isabella, “If I Ain’t Got You.” Shrill. Right out the gate. Sorry, but I’m done listening. After Avalon, I already knew who should stay. This wasn’t bad for Gianna, but those videos before her performances remind us that she’s just too young to be in this competition and then the weak vocals back that up. Keith says her voice was gorgeous. Jennifer says everyone gave it their all and Harry agrees.

So who will it be?

The judges chat about the performances and each of the bottom three’s journey and come to a unanimous decision. They decide to save Avalon Young!  So we say goodbye to Olivia and Gianna.

  1. For the fiRST thing
This really a FAREWELL SEASONS and I WILL STOP WATCHING AMERiCAN IDOL if OLIVIA ROX SENT HOME
    BYE AMERICAN IDOL
LAST YEAR JOEY COOK just finished until seventh
    Now Olivia Rox
The best is american idol 2014 which putting Jena Irene at runner up

  2. if we must choose by these three performance, i pick Avalon over Olivia just for this performance but if we consider last week performance i think olivia didn’t deserve in bottom three instead Lee or Tristan

  3. They take forever in auditions and Hollywood and then skip through the top ten at a mad pace? Then, the keep giving the judges power during the voting side of the show? If they let the voters votes stand, Avalon would probably be out. This is way too rushed for the singers to even enjoy being top ten.
