Break out the McKayla references because Steven Tyler, former American Idol judge himself, is not impressed with the season 12 panel.
When MTV News asked about the tensions rumored to exist on the new Idol panel Steven said it shouldn’t be that hard to get along, give an opinion, and support the young talent show.
“You just have to give your opinion. It wasn’t hard for me, but I would imagine it’s hard for some people, and they need a manager to say ‘Shut the f— up, and just give them your opinion,’ ” Tyler said. “These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they’re in New York City, they’re scared to death; you’re not going to get the best [out of them]. … If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”
Well that was a direct swing at Nicki Minaj, one of this year’s new judges. Here’s the clip from his interview if you want to hear more.
Tyler told MTV he hoped Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey could put away their differences and focus on the task at hand for American Idol 2013: finding the next pop superstar but he’s just not sure they can do it. What do you think?

I agree with Steven Tyler I just fast forwarded through minaj who enjoys hearing herself talk the problem is no one else cares.
Steven Tyler having the gull to put down any judge is a laugh riot to me. He was fairly good for the first few weeks he was a judge, with his cleaver one-liners. But after the jokes ran out and about half way through the season you could tell he was bored with it all. Because at that point all he was doing was being repetitive with his “simply beautiful” comments he farted out his mouth each week.
