Going back home to Armory, Mississippi was a big deal for American Idol 2016 finalist Trent Harmon, who hasn’t gotten to see his family since he started the competition. After an emotional reunion, he dives right back into helping his folks at the family restaurant. His visit also includes a trip to his high school where he did musical theater, a tractor ride through the streets, and a special concert for his fans.

Back in Hollywood, Trent Harmon chose “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton for his first song pick of the evening. It’s a great choice for Trent and he does a fabulous job of it, once again showing why he’s a strong favorite to be the next American Idol winner. Harry Connick Jr. said Trent is so special and he loved the performance. Jennifer Lopez told Trent he is hitting his peak at the right time to make it to the finale. Keith Urban thought it was a fantastic performance and Trent really hit the bullseye.
