Anyone who thought Trent Harmon would not make it to the Top 4 this week must have been living under a rock. Ever since he conquered mono to make it through Hollywood Week, Trent has been on a rapid rise to very likely end up the next American Idol winner. If anyone can beat him, it’s probably La’Porsha Renae, but it’s like to be a hard fought battle to top the charismatic and handsome Trent.

Trent Harmon’s first song of the night this week was “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top. It was entertaining to see him do an upbeat and fun song after all the more serious performances he’s given. He absolutely nailed it too. The arrangement was spot on, and Trent came across as super cool with the performance. Harry Connick Jr. told Trent he made a smart move with this choice. Keith Urban thought it was just freaking good and gave Trent a 10 rating for the performance. Jennifer Lopez said she’s been waiting to see him have this kind of great moment.

Most powerful female singers would be intimidated by trying to perform “Chandelier” by Sia. Trent Harmon, however, faced it head on and gave one of his most powerful and emotive performances this season. The American Idol judges were all over themselves with praise for Trent’s second song of the night. Keith Urban said the song was exquisite and Jennifer Lopez told Trent he can sing anything. Harry Connick Jr., the toughest critic of the bunch, said it was totally phenomenal and rated the performance a 100 out of a 100.
