This season on American Idol 2013 there has been a lot of debate and discussion on the pending changes we’d see for how the finalists were selected. Now we know more, thanks to FOX’s Mike Darnell, who is in charge of Alternative Entertainment.
Rumor had it that we’d see a big change this season where instead of the audience voting down a Top 24 to a Top 10 the judges would instead hand pick those singers. Holding back viewers until the Top 10 would be a drastic change, but that’s not what’s going to happen says Darnell.
Instead of the judges (ahem, the producers) picking the Top 10 overall they’ll be picking the Top 10 for boys and Top 10 for girls. Then from there the audience will begin its role as the deciders and vote through the rest of the season.
Are you glad the audience has a hand in more of the voting or do you think the judges/producers know best?
