This week on American Idol 2014, Hollywood Week officially begins. Over 200 hopeful contestants will arrive in Los Angeles to battle it out for a coveted spot in the semifinals. Only 31 of them will actually make it after four grueling rounds of competition after their American Idol performances for the judges in the all-important Hollywood rounds.
According to the American Idol spoilers for 2014 Hollywood Week, some of the contestants will actually have to face four rounds of competition in front of the judges this season. That’s because this year we have an extra “Hollywood or Home” surprise round for the hopefuls before they even get the chance to unpack.
Hollywood or Home?
All of the contestants who did NOT get three yes votes in the auditions round will have to sing again for the American Idol judges. And we hear Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. are going to be making deep cuts in this round.
So far, American Idol producers have trickled out a handful of video previews for the Hollywood Week rounds, and we thought we’d sharing them with you here for your viewing pleasure!

From there, we’ll move on to the solo a capella round, where the judges will evaluate the remaining contestants to determine who will get to move on to the infamous group round.
The Cradle Kid Returns!
In the group rounds, the contestants will be paired up with other singers to show how they handle the stress of working together in a team.
