Fantasia Barrino, winner of American Idol’s third season, is back with a new single after a long absence. “Lose To Win” is the first single from Fantasia in several years and comes ahead of its arrival on iTunes starting January 8, 2013.
SnarkFood takes a look at meaning behind the lyrics and how she drew on experiences from her own life:
The new song from Fantasia Barrino reflects on lessons learned in dealing with a difficult romantic relationship. They say you should write what you know, and Fantasia certainly knows all about the drama of a romance gone wrong.
“Have you ever needed someone so bad?/ But he ain’t willing to make it last/ Sometimes you gotta lose to win again,” Barrino sings in the chorus of “Lose to Win.” A report on the song’s release, Rap-Up.com called the Grammy Award winner’s new song an “empowering anthem.” The upbeat tune seems to share an uplifting message of finding your way after losing your heart to the wrong person.
