Fantasia Barrino bought a $1.3 million dollar mansion in North Carolina in 2007 at the height of her fame. After her star faded for a while, Fantasia fell into serious financial troubles and the 5-bedroom, 6-bath lakefront home ended up in foreclosure after she failed to find a buyer. Now the rundown mansion has finally been sold for a paltry $750K.
Six years ago, Fantasia Barrino was on top of the world. The American Idol winner had a starring role on Broadway in The Color Purple and launched her own reality TV show, Fantasia for Real. Unfortunately, Fantasia’s turn in the spotlight dimmed and she was plagued by financial, legal and relationship problems, including her father suing her for 10 million for alleged slander in her book Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.
By December of 2008, Fantasia’s North Carolina mansion was in foreclosure and was scheduled to be put up for auction in early 2009. Fantasia managed to save the home briefly with some legal wrangling and tried to sell it at a severely discounted price of just $800K. However, she was unable to find anyone to purchase the mansion, which needed a lot of work, and eventually decided to sign it over to the bank earlier this year.

The luxury house will now shortly be in the hands of an undisclosed buyer, according to CeleBuzz.com, who paid over $500K less for the mansion than Fantasia did when she bought it. The new owner will reportedly have a lot of work to do to restore the home to its former glory as it apparently has a lot of issues, including wood rot and no appliances.
