How sad is this news? Country singer Jason Aldean’s tour bus struck and killed a pedestrian this morning in Indiana. The incident reportedly took place around 1:30 AM and the singer was on board at the time. Aldean expressed his condolences today on Twitter and said he is praying for the victim’s family.
The man who was killed, Albert Kennedy of Vincennes, Ind., “walked out into the middle of the roadway,” according to the police report. Kennedy was reportedly known to walk around the area frequently but there is no information on why he decided to walk into the middle of the road. He was declared dead at the scene from “trauma to the head and chest,” according to ABC News.
Jason Aldean posted a message on Twitter after the incident about the tragic death. “With a heavy heart, I’m sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana,” he tweeted. “In all the years I’ve been touring and all the miles we’ve driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I’m praying for Albert Kennedy’s family and friends today and ask that you do the same.”
This has not been a great year for Jason Aldean, who filed for divorce from his wife earlier this year after he was photographed last year kissing former American Idol season 11 contestant Brittany Kerr. He claimed later that he was just really drunk and “screwed up.” She stated that she did not know he was married at the time of the makeout session and it was a lapse in judgement to kiss some guy she just met at a bar.
The accident is under investigation but police do not reportedly believe the bus driver was at fault, according to TMZ.com.
