After a somewhat disappointing round of performances from the American Idol 2014 finalists Judge Keith Urban and Mentor Randy Jackson told FOX Audio Central what they expect from the newly minted Top 11 contestants in the next round.
The Season 13 Top 11 singers will take on “Songs from the Cinema” when they return to the stage next Wednesday to perform for your votes. So what do they need to keep in mind? Keith and Randy offered up these suggestions.
Keith Urban prescribed a little mood relaxer for the singers and to return to their audition roots for their best performances:
Overall, I just feel like everyone needs to loosen up a bit.
Because I keep remembering what they were all like in the audition cities and why we chose them in that moment. Usually in that moment, they’re much looser.
There’s no mike, there’s no audience, there’s no big cameras, there’s nothing.
It’s just kind of, pretty low-key, and I think if they can keep that kind of easy confidence in that big production environment, it’s going to go a long way.
Randy Jackson wants “big moments” from these artists and he’s right. They need a hook to catch the voters and reel them in if they want to keep themselves in the competition.
They all have to have big moments. This has to be a big week for all of them.
If you want to stay on this show, you got to have a moment.
You got to find a song that’s going to give you a moment and perform and sing the I don’t know what out of it.
What do you want to see from the Top 11 singers when American Idol returns?
