If you’re heading to the 2012 BCS Sugar Bowl next week or just happen to be in the New Orleans area then you’re in for a treat. American Idol’s Kelly Clarkson is set to headline a January 2nd free concert as part of the festivities leading up to the January 3rd Sugar Bowl between Michigan and Virginia Tech (go Hokies!).
Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter in Jackson Square, this year’s Allstate Fan Fest will feature live concerts from pop music stars, school pep rallies, marching bands and football-themed activities to get fans excited for college football’s most iconic BCS Bowl games.
Before the Allstate® Sugar Bowl®, fans will enjoy free performances from Kelly Clarkson on Jan. 2., and New Orleans’ musicians Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Jan. 1. Cee Lo Green will headline the festivities leading up to the Allstate BCS National Championship™ with a free concert on Jan. 8, while local legends The Neville Brothers will perform on the Allstate Fan Fest main stage on Jan. 7.
Clarkson’s concert will be at 6:15PM on Monday in Jackson Square, so be sure to swing through there if you’re in the area. I imagine she’ll be performing some of her songs from her new album, “Stronger,” which released in October.
