According to UK tabloid The Sunday Mirror, Adam Lambert’s management has taken out a policy for  £30 million (or about 47 million U.S. dollars) on the singer’s voice. The decision was made to insure Adam’s signature sound due to the wild success of his current tour with Queen.

“Insurance for stars is a big deal in the U.S. and Adam’s voice is his bacon,” a source reportedly told The Mirror. “He had it insured last week.

Another source reportedly confirmed to Click Music that Adam’s management had taken out the huge insurance policy on his vocal chords. “His voice is a powerhouse and the explosive success of the Queen tour has made everyone more cautious, ” the source said. “They just want peace of mind – it’s as simple as that.”

Original Queen guitarist Brian May recently said in a radio interview that playing with Adam Lambert has “woken us up, and just in time.”

The Queen tour with Adam Lambert was originally only supposed to have a brief run in North America, but has now expanded to include dates in New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. Dates in the UK are also a future possibility.
