Apparently the American Idol judges’ table just isn’t enough for Jennifer Lopez. According to NBC, the sexy siren has another TV gig lined up with a new cop drama called Shades of Blue. Does this mean we won’t be seeing J-Lo on the American Idol 2015 judges panel?
J-Lo’s new TV starring role could possibly be a red flag that she won’t be returning for American Idol season 14. NBC has already signed on for a 13 episode straight-to-series order of the show. Interestingly enough, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest will actually serve as the co-executive producer on Shades of Blue.
On the new series, Jennifer Lopez will play a “single mom and detective who works undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force,” according to USA Today. NBC reports the character “becomes compromised by her colleagues — all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.”
J-Lo has previously appeared in such movies as Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner, and Monster-in-Law. This will be her first starring role in a non-reality TV series. The new series is expected to start production sometime next year for the 2015-16 season.
