American Idol 2024 Recap Episode 11: The Top 14 Are Chosen

American Idol – 710 (Top 20)- (Disney/Eric McCandless) Ryan  Seacrest, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan.

American Idol 2024 turns the Top 20 into the Top 14 tonight with one of the biggest cuts of the season. We only lost four Idol hopefuls with last night’s eliminations. Tonight, we’re going to lose a whomping six contestants. America picks the first ten finalists to move on to the Top 14. Then the judges choose the final four. Last night’s American Idol episode revealed a lot of great performances.

Plenty of emotions were shown, vocal dynamics were on display, and contestants poured their all into the performances. Every single contestant is fighting for their spot in the next round. It was a great night of American Idol. However,  three hours of performances was a tiny overwhelming.  Therefore, I am excited to have fewer performances to watch tonight. With fewer performances, tonight should allow us to appreciate the talent of the Top 14 performers and their performances.

It’s another night that would be nearly impossible to predict the outcome.  Every contestant has been putting so much into their performances that I have no clue what the viewers vibed with the most. The unpredictability of this season (so far) is increasing my anticipation for it. I want to enter each night with a clear head, ready to see who shines this night.

So let’s see who will make it to the Top 14

America Selects The Top Ten Hopefuls

Mckenna Faith Breinholt is the first person in the Top 14. She sings her birth mother’s song “Tumbleweed” by Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl.

Luke Bryan says this was his best performance of the night. He says that usually, the first person knows that they’re going through to the next round, so it must have been hard for him, but he showed up.

Jordan Anthony also must sing for his life. He sings “Attention” by Charlie Puth.

Katy Perry says she was surprised that he didn’t make it because he was great last night. She says he was great again and thinks it was his best performance. She says she likes the attitude of Quintavious and him about doing it or themselves.

Kennedy Reid finds out she did not make the Top 14 yet. She needs to sing to try to stay in the competition. Kennedy performs “Something Bad” by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. Lionel Richie says that’s the way to deal with a no. She had all the confidence in the world on stage.

Ajii is also not in the Top 14 yet. He sings “Call Out My Name” by The Weeknd. Katy says he gave them vocals and made a smart decision to choose a song for them to feel confident in him as a singer.

Jayna Elise must sing for survival. She sings “All I Wanted” by Paramore. Lionel says she gave a command performance. He loved it.
