Reigning American Idol champion Phillip Phillips has released a new music video for his latest single “Gone, Gone, Gone.”
The follow-up to the season 11 winner’s hit coronation song “Home” has a surprisingly similar feel since Phillip didn’t have anything to do with the writing of “Home” and had even said that the song wasn’t his style. I guess the producers liked the success of “Home” and likely had a pretty strong say in the record’s production.
All analysis aside, “Gone, Gone, Gone” is a catchy song. It has a nice hook and it highlights Phillip’s raspy voice. It’s as upbeat as it is smooth and soft. It’s a good mixture, which makes for a good song. And as for the video itself, it’s good a nice feel that people should be able to relate to. I like it. I’m a fan.

Branden’s comment that this new song has a “similar feel” to “Home” is an understatement. It is it’s fraternal twin. I can believe phillip said Home was not his style as he seemed almost awkward singing it at the AI finale last year. But, perhaps that was just the emotion of winning showing. Whatever is next better be a standout and be unique or he will never expand on his current fan base. Please God, not a cover of “We’ve Got Tonight”.
