Avalon Young American Idol audition video:

San Diego native Avalon Young picked up her first guitar when she was only 7 years old, and the rest, as they say, is history according to her website bio. Avalon counts bands like Maroon 5 and The Fray as musical inspirations, and wants nothing more than to pursue music as a career for the rest of her life. She’s not just in it for the fame and fortune, however. She also “wishes to inspire others to believe in themselves enough to pursue their dreams and work at it every day.”

Avalon says she was basically born to be a musician, since she was named by her mom after the song “Avalon” by Bryan Ferry. In fact, she has some of the lyrics tattooed on her arm in tribute. While she doesn’t like to have her own music categorized too much, she says she has always been inspired by rap, hip-hop, and RnB. Some of her favorite influences include The Weeknd, Kehlani, and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Beneath it all, however, she has the heart and mind of an acoustic singer songwriter, which ends up giving her a unique voice and sound.

Back in 2014, Avalon successfully raised enough funds through an IndieGoGo campaign to record a second EP, which certainly shows she has a lot of fans already supporting her. Both of her EPs are available through iTunes if you decide you like her sound, as well as a single for her original song “Bad News” off the EP Redline.
