Next week we have our first glimpse of new American Idol judge Ellen Degeneres. Finally Idol goes to Hollywood so no more guest judges, no more bad auditions, only great singers looking for a break. Here is a small preview of what is to come:
We don’t see much of the new judge but I’m wondering by what we do see if she is going to have a problem giving criticism. What do you think? Can Ellen give the contestants the critiques they need to improve their performance?
WITH ALL THIS HYPE GOING ON, SHE’LL PROBABLY BE FINE….THERE ARE ENOUGH JUDGES THERE TO CRITIQUE THE YOUNG TALENT…ELLEN LOVES MUSIC AND I KNOW THAT DOESN’T MAKE HER QUOTE “QUALIFIED” TO JUDGE BUT NEITHER ARE WE THE PEOPLE AND WE BUY THE MUSIC…..AND VOTE!!!!!
I hope she’s another Paula, with only nice things to say – imagine Ellen being mean?!? That will freak me out.
To me, she’s the beginning of the end. No business being there and is the push I needed to stop watching, I think. Good luck to them…I think they’ll need it.
The show has gone to trash when we have to start bringing in the lesbians to entertain us. Also, how can we possibly have a judge deciding on the next AMERICAN Idol when they are not even an American “Beckham”! We have stopped watching this show. It’s gone down hill.

You almost lost me – and still might – by selecting Ellen as a judge. She was totally the wrong selection. If you choose Howard Stern to replace Simon, you will have lost me and my household – FOREVER !!
Right now it is just a rumor going around that Howard Stern has been offered the job to take Simon Cowell’s place. According to sources, there is no front runner and the search has just begun.

We have not watched 1 night of American Idol this year. I am going to wait until Ellen gets there to watch a few shows. After Adam and watching his talent I think I would be mostly disappointed anyway. Of course there is Daughtry spelling?), Carrie Underwood, David Cook and a few others that did good.So there might be some good ones? We have gotten hooked on the Vampire Diaries.And Smallville with the hunk Tom Welling. And I like Green Arrow too! We don’t understand what gives Ellen the right to judge potential contestants. We and other ppl we have spoken too feels EVERY judge should have a musical background. We feel this show is going downhill and FAST. When Simon leaves it definitely will be crappy
Yeah, any permanent judges they pick fo replacements, need to have an extensive background in music. And they must be realtively suddessful in the music industry as well. Howard Stern (if the rumor is true)has neither of those things goin’ for him. Ellen is gonna be awful this season.

Ellen Degeneres is the best choice they could made!! She’s always kind and she will be strict without being rude. What has her sexual orientation to do with her judgement!!.

Ellen is definitely not qualified to serve as a permanent judge. She has no background in music. Sure she loves music, but so do a lot of the hopefuls they trash every year at the auditions. If it were a show for the next great comedian, give her a shot, but to judge music??? What were they thinking???
i would just like to say the sharron and simon made american idol and the both of them should get togeather again and the show will expload with the people I kid you not there the best
I wish Ellen all the best and hope she does well but don’t follow in simmon’s foot steps or you will lose there is only one Simmon so just be yourself and you will do very well good luck Ellen
I think that homophobic coments are unneccesary in these circumstances and should not even come into the picture. Maybe i could understand if the comment stated that they were nothing to do with music, but being spiteful regarding sombodys personal preference in life has NOTHING to do with this site!!!! I WISH ELLEN ALL THE BEST!! Any comment on some of the contestents are better than making the next American idol out of some of the ones we have seen, don’t you agree.

I thought the show is about music…so why bring a comedian/actor to be a judge who wants to change the American way…IN GOD WE TRUST and our constitution. At least bring someone with a backbone like Madonna.

Well, what can i say other than thank you to you decent human beings that have posted something on my comment!! Just saw the show tonight, it was Ellen’s “opening night” Love her!!! She is going to be awesome!!
Just as we figured, Ellen is trying sooooooooooo hard to judge something that she has ABSOLUTELY NO qualifications to do. ALL JUDGES SHOULD HAVE A MUSICAL BACKGROUND, NOT JUST LIKE MUSIC, Heck we all like music, why not get one of us to sit up there and judge?
And when Simon leaves, the show will go to H??? in a handbasket. We are afraid between Ellen starting and Simon leaving will be the end of the show. Please people stop and think what you are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought Ellen was fine – she brought some humor to the show and as this is purely an entertainment show, that is a good thing. She is far better than Paula and the judging panel now has some balance. I don’t get the rude remarks about her sexual orientation – she is a very good entertainer and is reported to be a super nice person. Personally I don’t care what she does in her private life, there are far worse things going on in this world.
Love ellen on IA. I will watch for that reason alone.
I think Ellen is the best judge ever for she was judge all her life and know whay it’s like to be judge.Good luck Ellen cant wait to see you on this show and many to come. You are a the nr 1 in the word with talkshow’s and everything you do. People that dont like you dont like themselfs for you are so likeble keep up the good work.
I think Ellen is hot!! She is funny, caring, understanding and honest… I think she will try her damdest to make a go of it, and good for her. Lets see what the SHOW brings and not the judges!!! x
