This was good show last night. It is going to be so hard to decide. Both Kris and Adam are good. But either way…May the best man win!! Someone looses and someone will be the next American Idol. Such a good group this year. I wish them all the best in their singing careers. Another year GONE!!!

Kris was great with the 1st song, but didn’t have the range and power for the 2nd, and was exposed as a weak whiney voice on the 3rd. He was in the best position to end the show with a memorable wow, but it came crashing down with a forgetable dud. Not a good way to finish the exclamation point at the end of a sentence.
Adam was consistent with the 1st as in his previous performance, but with some holding back on going all out on the high note. He rocked the 2nd with a booming rendition. He nailed the 3rd and made Kara and the co-writers proud.

It truly was an excellent performance, and in my mind he proved he has earned his place in the finals, 2nd place. I totally respect both of these young men. I feel with time and training Kris will definitely improve. ADAM, YOU TRULY ARE AN AMERICAN IDOL. What a train wreck that third song was! It didn’t showcase either of their voices and I don’t think either enjoyed singing it. Kris sings more heartfelt, but Adam deserves to win. Although didn’t think his performance of “Mad World” was as good as he had done earlier in the show.

Sorry Adam and Kris fans but, I really thought last night’s finale was B-O-R-I-N-G. I have watched other American Idol finales and this one by far was not a favorite. At one point I actually changed the channel for a bit. I thought their performances was same old, same old, Adam screaming, Kris just ordinary. Samo judges comments repeating same comments. Can’t wait for tonight to see the other idol contestants in the group performances. Also, Kara needs to settle down, lol, Randy needs to stop booing EVERY time Ryan introduces Simon, he was always my favorite judge but now he’s starting to get on my nerves. I think the show is going down hill fast.
Last night was very interesting. I think it is going to be a very close call. Even Dial Idol has it very close with only 1.1% difference between them.They list Kris above Adam, but it’s anybodys game really. My preference is for Kris, but that’s just because I like his style better.

Everyone is WAY underestimating Kris and the amount of votes he received last night. I haven’t voted since Season 2 – and I made a point of voting for Kris last night for 2 straight hours as many times as I could get through, and I haven’t voted all season. I know several others who did the same. Even if Adam does win, it will be a very narrow victory. I’d be willing to bet that this is going to be the closest vote they have ever had on AI. And reallly, it doesn’t matter who get “the title”. The winner gets strapped down with an AI contract, so I guess “winning” is all in how you perceive a “win”. The true test is when their album hits the shelves. Who’s gonna sell? My bet is that Kris has far more appeal and will sell many more albums than Adam. Not that Adam isn’t talented…he is incredibly talented, but I personally feel that his music isn’t very relevant for today. He seems rather old school metal/hard rock to me. Been there, done that…not interested anymore in hearing people screech their lyrics. Did that enough in the 80’s.

I did not like the last song that was co-written by Kara. It was hard to sing and didn’t leave me wanting to ever hear it again. It needs some help! I hope both Adam and Kris keep humble and do well in their singing careers.

I voted for Kris last night, well tried. Me and my best friend tried for 2 hours and NEVER got through. I honestly like rock music much better than anything, but there is something about Kris that just draws you in. He’s incredibly talented. And his performance of ‘Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone’, WOW! So heart-felt and emotional. He’s a gifted soul.
That last song that Kara wrote is atrocious. That song won’t sell. But, Kris sounded terrible trying to sing it. Kris’s best song is Ain’t no sunshine and Adam has many. I voted as much as I could get through for Adam. He hopefully will blow Kris out of the water!

I alo agree that the song Kara wrote for the guys was horrible, it was like trying to compare apples to oranges with their different voices. Adam could hit those high notes (if that’s what you want to call it) where Kris has a lower range. It was all designed for Adam to be able to sing the song.
My hats off to either one of these guys. I wish next year that they don’t show case one person throughout the whole season. That was so unfair to everyone else in the cast. If that happens I won’t be watching it. I believe alot of people got turned off to AI because of that very thing.

Well, my first choice was Danny Gokey. I like Kris a lot and I hope if the Danny fans are smart they will vote for Kris. Adam has a good voice but such a screamer….that tongue makes me ill. I don’t think last night changed anyone’s mind; everyone was going to vote for who they like throughout the season but even Kris fan must agree that last nights show was won by Adam. That last song was all wrong for him! He should have totally changed if he couldn’t sing it.

Because the voting system is so flawed, it is anyones guess who will win. As many have opined on here, it is about who can get as many dials in for their favorite in the 4 hours allotted.
A poll on Dial Idol shows 51% for Adam and 49% for Kris and it is that close – either way.
Based on last nights performances, I agree with #17 Thomas that Kris took round 1 but did not do well afterwards.
The song choices by Simon Fuller were not exactly inspiring but Adam did better than Kris whose performance was a little limp for a final show.
The “Coronation” song was awful but for those who said it was written for Adam and too high for Kris, you can have any song transposed to a key that suits your vocal range.
Given this was the final, I was disappointed because it started well but fell off and there was no grand finale with the last song.
If “No Boundaries” was the best song written, I shudder to think what the others were like.
Whatever happens, both have a future in the business but I do believe that Adam will have a more global success.

Kara’s song showed 1 glaring point..kris cant sing any song outside of his comfort zone. Adam sang 3 songs of 3 different categories. AI needs a Lamber win to survive. If kris wins, then you might as well change the competition name to No Talent? No Problem. Only chauvanist church goers allowed to vote.

Adam is a homosexual. What teeny poppers want to fantasize about yet another gay pop star? His incessant screaming is tiring and annoying. If that is all listeners have to look forward to then he is about as tiring as listening to an alley cat. Comparing this loser to Tallarico is a sin!
Anyones choice of lifestyle should not matter in their music although I am not an Adam fan… Look at Elton John…how many of you buy his music…he is awesome.

After last night’s performance if you people are still trying to cover up Kris and say Adam screams then you lied to yourself. Of course singers have to sing the same song in every singing COMPETITION. Judges want to challenge a tough song to know who has the true talent. That’s the point. If Kris can’t sing that song exposed his limitation and vocal capability, period. Don’t blame the song or writer. I doubt any other tough song pick will do much difference.
I don’t think they were allowed to change Kara’s song up all too much. I don’t think that Adam would be able to sing a song in a “low” key. Just like Kris didn’t do as well with a “high” key. I think the purpose was them to sing it exactly in the same key and everything. I think Kara caterred to Adam’s key a little bit more than Kris’s key. To tell the honest truth, I don’t think EITHER did a good job with her song. Her song just plain sucked.

If they should decide to give this award to Kris, I’m wondering about the complete breakdown of American Idol..They have gotten it wrong before but never in my 8 years of watching, has there ever been a contestant with the gigantic International appeal ADAM has..If it happens, it will be interesting to see how they handle giving it to someone besides ADAM!!
I think both are talented, however, I think Kris has grown more thoughout this competition. He most definetly has come out of his shell a little bit and realized that he is an amazing singer…..he needs to BELIEVE that. I think he finally does.

I think you are not being open-minded by saying that if Adam does not win, that you wonder about the breakdown of American Idol. This is a competition that is voted by America. Simply that. If American votes more for Kris, than that is to say that there were more viewers that are Kris fans, plain and simple. Same thing is if Adam is to win, more viewers that are Adam fans. It isn’t the show that determines the winner, it is us as Americans. Either way I can tell you this, both of these talented gentlemen will have HUGE, successful music careers. I am very proud of those of them. It takes a lot to do what the do. Kris has international appeal, Adam has international appeal. They will fit into the music business AMAZINGLY, and will be wonderful.

Hi, Frank. yes, voting was slow..I had 3 phones on automatic redial but was getting lots of busy signals..I was only getting through about every 3rd call on each of them.It got better as time went on..I voted until the closing..I got in between 600-700 votes…I still think this is a very poor way to decide American Idol…No contest except a voting contest… Oh well, it is what it is…Go ADAM!!

Mary Anne, yes, I did manage to see the entire show. I don’t think Adam’s Mad World was as good as the first time around – but how do you beat perfection. I agree with Simon that the dry ice affect and Adam moving around distracted from the the song this time. It was still much better than the original artist in my opinion.
His second song was awesome and even though the third song wasn’t anything to write home about he showed his versatility and did the song justice even though the song didn’t do him justice.

Adam Lambert is simply the BEST Vocalist this year. And perhaps, any year thus far.
I am glad on the other hand of the finale song ” No Boundaries” for it was able to showcase adam lambert’s inborn talent in singing. such a difficult song but he was able to deliver it without any faults. I couldnt believe his vocal range now….. i just cant stop shaking my head while adam belted to the highest notes. so incredible.
In fact, im thanking Kara Dioguardi for such a brilliant song cuz a mediocre singer couldnt bring the best out of that song. but adam lambert sang it with class and excellence.

Adam Lambert Loses, Homophobia Wins
The best singer didn’t win a freaking singing contest.
When Kris Allen defeated Adam Lambert as the Season 8 “American Idol,” it was, as predicted, a seismic upset. The Chicago Sun-Times said, “David slayed Goliath.” Endless bloggers posted reactions like “The biggest robbery since Bush stole the election” and “The end of American Idol’s last hope at relevance.”
Everyone, from the judges to Google to Yahoo to the Vegas odds makers, predicted a Lambert victory. They were right, and everyone knows it. In the end homophobia won, and everyone knows it.
Yes, homophobia is alive and well, which is why Lambert lost the ultimate title. Go ahead — give me another reason. Yes, Lambert is over the top and screams a lot and is campier than Liberace at Radio City. Sure, Kris Allen is a cutie, and has pleasant enough vocals, and he’s nice. But a better singer, or performer, than Lambert? Please.
By anyone’s estimation, Lambert was the best vocalist of the entire Idol season and one of the best, if not the best, in the history of the program. He towered over every contestant, exposing them as the amateurs they are. Every Lambert performance was an event. If this competition were only about singing, he crushed everyone else the second he walked onstage.
Kris Allen is a very affable and attractive young man. He is a decent vocalist with a very limited range and marginal talents. He should have made it to 3rd place at best. Time will tell if he reaches the level of John Mayer or Jack Johnson.
The final round, if vocals were the actual standard, should have been Lambert and Allison Iraheta, the precocious 17 year old with the whisky crusted Janis Joplin voice. But vocals, as evidenced by this and other Idol seasons, are not the final standard. In the end, a ‘likeability’ factor intrudes, turning ‘Idol’ into the Miss America Pageant or, more realistically, the high school Homecoming coronation.
Melinda Doolittle lost to Jordin Sparks. Chris Daughtry lost to Taylor Hicks. Jennifer Hudson lost to … anyone. It’s a real shame that Idol is decided by the public and not just music professionals, because let’s face it, the voting public is not that bright. The public voted George W. Bush twice as president. The public thinks Halliburton is Liz Taylor and Richard Burton’s daughter. The public votes on who they want to ‘hang out’ with.
In that event, Allen won by a landslide. Lambert hangs out with kinky L.A. theatre folk who dress wierd, stay out all night, and possibly do drugs and get into compromising positions. Allen hangs out at a local Arkansas bar, has a beer or two, strums a song, and then goes home to wedded Christian bliss. (Of course, I’d rather hang with Lambert’s crowd. How much fun do you think they are? Are you kidding?)
If the contestants had zero backstory, Lambert would have decimated the competition. Instead, Allen’s Christianity, church roots and corn-fed wife were exploited, as were Lambert’s musical theatre roots (i.e. his ‘theatre fag’ history). He didn’t say a word about his sexuality, but didn’t need to. For that we had the Internet, zapping anyone’s private photo library to the world, so photos of Lambert swapping saliva with a guy went viral, as well as a lot of his very strange yet riveting LA cabaret performances, turning off the homophobic majority.
Yes, a majority of the country is homophobic. If it weren’t, gays would have had their rights back in the 90s when the Europeans got them. We wouldn’t have a majority of states with a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. We wouldn’t be fighting for even rudimentary domestic partnership laws in some cities and states. We wouldn’t have anti-gay imbeciles like Maggie Gallagher, Peter LaBarbera, Matt Barber or the “God Hates Fags” morons getting publicity. Yep, if American weren’t homophobic, Lambert would be waving to the crowds from a convertible.
Bill O’Reilly, a homophobe who knows what plays to his old white guy audience, did at least two features on Lambert’s sexuality, creating an issue where none needed exist. He first brought up the Internet photos of Lambert kissing a guy and asked if this would be a “problem” for America, an America who might not have even thought about it until O’Reilly brought it up. And right before the Idol finale he brought on Newsweek’s Ramin Setoodeh, author of an article about the “Christian vote” going to Allen, again planting a seed in a public who might not previously have thought of it. O’Reilly is a skilled propagandist, warning us against the evils of the secular world before they even entered our minds. And Steoodeh wrote, post ‘Idol,” about reasons why Lambert may have lost, neglecting to mention how he himself may have contributed.
I’m sorry a simple musical theatre actor from California and a simple guitar strummer from Arkansas have to bear this cultural burden, but there it is. Despite Allen’s pleading that “It’s about music, it’s not about religion and all that kind of stuff,” it is indeed about religion and all that kind of stuff. Danny Gokey’s pastor Twittered, “We need a believer to represent.” Even Rev. Ted Haggard, the most frightened homosexual in America, Twittered that he wanted Allen to win. A Lambert win would have scared the bejeezus out of him.
Conservatives are all still stinging from their defeat at the polls in November. They wanted something to take home. They couldn’t possibly let a guy who wears eyeliner and nail polish win, no matter how astoundingly talented he is.
It is to Lambert’s credit and astounding talent that he got this far, and the media sensation he has created ensures him a very exciting post-Idol career. He’s a phenomenon who has earned every bit of ink he has created. He made ‘Idol” relevant again. His outrageous performances woke up a sleeping audience.
And he made, without really trying, a great leap for gays in America. The American public learned his sexuality early on and still voted for him into the finals, even if they were too scared to give him the ultimate prize. But they obviously had their limits. Perhaps if he hadn’t sung his finale “Mad World” performance in that ‘Basketball Diaries’ cloak, which made us fear he was a misunderstood youth about to pull out a semiautomatic and open fire on the tweens in the mosh pit, he would have won.
Even Kris Allen, at the end, said, “Adam deserves this. I’m sorry.” It’s Allen who will have to endure the publicity of how it really should have been Lambert up there. He’s a nice guy and doesn’t deserve it. He should enjoy his victory. But he was competing against Goliath, and these things happen. David himself would have had to deal with the fallout.

I can only think you must believe this Homophopia crap. Kris won because ARKANSAS carried him. Reportedly 38 million text votes from a state with less than 3 million people.
Call it southern pride, good ole boy gang or whatever, but southern states have always supported their own. We all knew how to vote and how often we could vote so get off the GAY band wagon. Lot’s of artist are GAY.
This had more to do with KRIS’S likeability factor not O’Reilly and “The Factor”
Adam seems quite comfortable with the outcome and is gracious in his congrats to Kris.
No wonder Kris was supprised, ALL DAY long very blog, news report and website called it for Adam except Facebook. Simon virtually coronated him Tuesday night.
Kris’s overall talent of both singing as well as playing was considered by the voters, not just the ability to SCREAM out loud notes.

But you see my dear Bill, I am not from anywhere near your voting arena. My point is from a BIRD’S EYE VIEW. I knew TALENT the 1st time I saw ADAM LAMBERT. It didn’t matter if he was gay or not, christian or not, from the west coast or from the east coast. He was TALENT PERSONIFIED. That was all I could see. A lot of people around the globe share that perspective.
You must accept that fact that him being gay has been one of his biggest demerit. And add the “SOUTHERN BOND” that you call. This boy Adam will have to pass through the eye of a needle to win YOUR AMERICAN IDOL “SINGING” CONTEST.
Needless to say I am not worried though, I am sure that talented as he is, he has and they have found the man that is ADAM LAMBERT…

You know what people, i don’t care at all on whether you like the predictions or not but i’m gonna say this! Yipee! Yipee! Yippe! Yipee! Wow! Wow! Wow! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! My fave fave fave idol has won! Whoo Hoo…….
Yes! I never ever expected expected this to be happened in the history of the Amercian Idol knowing that Adam a super super marvellous/super powerful/super strong perfomer/vocalist on season 8 ever can be beaten by Kris and lost, way below that his expectation and worst, live on t.v! That’s got to be hurt and shamful! I first found out the news for the first time @ yahoo while i was working. I was so so so shocked but very very happy and proud at Kris and those people who voted for Kris and most inportanly, very glad that he won. Later at night, when i watched the finale on t.v, i was totally blowned away! Kris never expected that he could win and then, later he hugged his wife and cried very very happily. I said to myself, Wow! that is one hell of a show! Lots of emotion but lots of happiness. Kriss deserved to win and very deserved to cry on his wife shoulder. It simply worth it very very much!
You know, what i can say about Kris Allen is that he’s a survivor and no matter what negativity, he kept on performing, performing, performed and most of all, he did not even gave up so so easily and that’s what all of the struggling musicians out there + people who are having a bad day and really really need a real true motivation, follow Kris one!
When people and the judges said negativity comments on his weekly performances on idol, he did not gave up but instead, held up to the judges comments on what the hell went wrong + listened to the mistakes very very carefully and yes, turned into the best and brilliant marvellous on the next performance and he had trully done that on idol!. Everyone should be inspired, motivates and most inportantly of all, did not give up that easily just like how he does and i’m sure gonna follow his motivation.
Kris had showed lots and lots of improvement on his performances especially from his first one of “Man In A Mirror” to his latest and soon No 1, platinum single soon, “No Boundries”. What i trully trully like and love about his atttitide is that he is so so so so genius, genius, very very intelligent, so so so smart on that his accustic performances are so so absolutely marvellous and brilliant. I really wanna wanna know and learn on how the hell does he do that cause that passion/talent are so unique and honourable and i don’t ever think that any performer/artist can performed that accustic performances better and marvellous than Kris.
Kris is a sensative sweet guy who we all heard on his ballad performances and indeed what Randy Travis called him the strong ballad singer and Randy and Simon called his “Tender Dogg/Tender Puppy are true. Kris really really showed to every single one that though he’s not like Adam but he worked very very hard and in the ned, it showed that hard work really really paid off big time and also the risks.
I wanna thanked every single one out there who voted, cheered, supported, Kris, Danny, Matt, Allison from day 1 and i hope those idols will come out with their latest projects asap as i can’t hardly wait anymore. Kris Allen, congrats to you once again for winning. You simply simply deserved and worth it to be won!

To #200 YL – You state in your lengthy diatribe that “every Lambert performance was an event”. Well, yes, I would agree that it was an event, but probably not the event you think for the majority of us. You further state that “if this competition were only about singing”. It was only about singing and I think that’s where Adam missed the boat. He does have a lovely, full voice – but he maligned every single song with screaming. Had he only just sung a song instead of screaming it, I think people would have accepted him better. Additionally, you state that you think a bunch of homophobes killed Adam’s chance. I, of course, can’t speak for everyone, but I voted for Kris because I enjoyed his “singing” better. My vote had nothing to do with Adam’s sexuality, it had everything to do with the high-pitched screams. Further, you pretty much accuse all of us who didn’t vote for Adam of being stupid. Well, again, this has nothing to do with intelligence but everything to do with the ear. Kris’ voice was pleasing, Adam’s was not! I take offense at being called stupid by someone who doesn’t even know me. Calling names about something like this singing contest leads me to believe that perhaps your IQ isn’t too high!
Am I the only one that realizes that Kris fans can never just say “go Kris” without bashing Adam too? Meanwhile, Adam fans defend Kris from haters. I don’t get it.

I really enjoyed the Top 5 American idol group song last night. It was moving to see Aaron Kelly eliminated however I do think the others were better hence he needed to go!
I believe Donald Trump would be a much better American Idol judge compared with Harry Connick Jr. – Trump isn't at all afraid to express what he thinks and can be as controversial as Simon Cowell.

Both of these artist were good. But this fighting is stupid. Who won is who won. There is nothing we can do about it. I personally voted for Kris myself, but i enjoy listening to some of Lambert's newer music that was published after the show. Both of these guys were great singers. Fighting over something that happened that long ago isn't going to change the result. Argue all you want, just make yourselves look like bigger idiots. I stand behind my vote for Kris, but i support Adam today. Kris earned the win he got, so stop all this stupid bickering and grow up
