    • these songchoices SUCK. There are 2 of the same artists EACH!!!!! And I don’t see any songs that might be GREAT for anybody… Especially Jessica.

      • Good thing that there are more singers than just Jessica, huh?

        Like the “then” songs — true soul classics — ought to be fun!

      •  It’s ridiculous, no wonder the recording industry has tanked. It’s all about Jess promo…well if the show isn’t rigged, the Judges are going to get taught a lesson, thousands of people in on it..ha ha ha.

        But personally, I think the show is totally rigged.

      • Joshua was “born” to sing Sam Cooke songs!  No way that Colton should attempt A Change is Gonna Come.  I have been saying since the first audition that Joshua should line up w/Sam Cooke!  Can’t wait.

    • September is a great song by Earth Wind and Fire, but Deandre isn’t there anymore, I can’t imagine anyone else with the talent to do that song right. After Johnny Keyser sang a change is gonna come it might whoever sings that is not gonna get the votes unless Phillip can tackle it, Keyser was awesome and it’s a reminder he’s not here anymore,. Marvin Gayes Let’s get it on should be sung by maybe Phillip, but I can’t seem to think of anyone else pulling it off I’m thinking Elise is going to sing Son of A Preacher man I seem to think Haley sang that once. Other then Earth Wind and Fire song I can say there are no good ones in the bunch.

  3. Such a toss-up.  I’m going to ‘Son of Preacher Man’ to Elise.  Hope ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ is Phillip.

  5. I guess P2 will sing “No One” and I can actually hear him singing the way he used to in my mind~ (Would that be a good thing or he is too predictable? I wonder.) 

    I also thought Colton will sing “No one” with his piano thing, hope not.

    I hope JS will not sing “I believe” & “Rolling in the Deep”, if it is, I hope it would have twist on it, ~ 

    Pls not “I believe” for Josh, don’t want him too ‘scream’ too much

    Bad Romance for Elise would be best for me~ 🙂

  7. With this type of chosen songs, I think most of the contestants are playing SAFE……Aren’t they aware that they are in a big competition and not in  a variety show where they weekly perform?….Now, this  is everybody’s game, since no one seemed to risk.

    • They think its high school musical apparently…some very immature and simple songs on the list. I’m, starting to really dislike the show.

      • I agree the show is beginning to really stink and needs to go out with the garbage.  I really hope these judges never come back.   Especially J. Lo. 
        They are supposed to talk about their voices and not how they look and I love you, and you give me goosees……….gag me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Cause a song can be sung in more ways than one. How he sang it still doesn’t compare to the great Sam Cooke’s version.

  14. I just listened to Hollie singing Rollin In The Deep on youtube. Wow..I hope she is the one singing it tonight.

    • I heard that version by her too a couple wks ago and loved it! I saw this song list and was like really someone’s going to do Adele again? But then I remembered Hollie’s version and I really hope she does it!

    one question, the way these songs are listed is it in the order of performance? Or would it be in random?

    I am trying to match the song to the singer and the “Then” is a bit tough to match.

  26. I don’t see either of the spoilers predicted for Elise and Jessica on there but I do see two songs I had on the list.  I had Elise singing “No One” and Joshua singing “I Believe”.  So based on that  here is how I think it works out:

    “No One” – Alicia Keys – Elise“I Believe” – Fantasia – Joshua“Rolling In The Deep” – Adele – Hollie“U Got It Bad” – Usher – Colton“Born This Way” – Lady Gaga – Skylar“Fallin’” – Alicia Keys – Jessica“Bad Romance” – Lady Gaga – Phillip

    First, way too much Gaga….with that said, I predicted the first two.  I think “Bad Romance” tweaks Phillips quirky side.  I think “Rolling in the Deep” seems like something that Hollie would pick…good luck to her.  “Born this Way” is something Skylar can add some twang to, and actually fits her spirit.  The Diva song here is “Fallin'” which would fit Jessica well.  That leaves Colton with Usher.

    I think Jessica does September…similar to doing “Turn the Beat Around”.  Let’s get It On really needs to be done by one of the adults.  I know that Joshua has been recommended for “Try a Little Tenderness” but I can’t see Hollie doing anything else.  I think “A Change…” fits Joshua perfectly, he has a lot of Sam Cooke in him, plus it fits with his being a “Son of a Preacher”.  I leave “Son” to Skylar as she can put a country twist on it, then it is just process of elimination.

    • You didn’t give Phillip a “now” song.  As for your then song…I don’t know. I see Phillip doing In the Midnight Hour or Heard it through the grapevine.

      “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis should be sang by someone who has more experience and enough soul in side that it should be done by
      Elise ,  Philip can do “In the Midnight Hour” and    Skylar – ” Son of the Preacher Man”  I thinkl…………………..  😀

      I am not a “Now” guy so I really don’t care.  Hard to be stubborn and stuck in an era where music were music and artists were artists.

      I say you are almost spot on after that.

I’m very weary about someone singing “A Change is Gonna Come”, because this is one of those songs that you cannot just be a great singer.  You have to own this song and sing it with purpose.  No offense to the younger singers, but I just cannot see someone younger singing this without having gone through some crazy stuff.  Just because you are a “soul” singer does not mean you can and should sing a song like this.  This brings up a good point that I need to make…having a soul sounding voice does not mean you actually have soul.  I think the judges have very much overlooked this fact this season.  I am not going to mention which contestant I feel this pertains to.

    Sayesha sang this during her season and she sounded amazing.  You actually felt her performance and she ended up having a moment with this song.  (Although, if I remember correctly, it was Randy that stated he didn’t like it, but Simon told her she really did an amazing job).  This is why I miss Simon! 

    • I want to also point out that maybe one of the younger contestants has been through some stuff, in which case, they need to let that show during this performance. I don’t want to assume anything. 

      • I’m not a fan of Adam Lambert personally (although I do think he is talented)…but he did sing the song to where it was believable.

        I preferred Syesha’s version.

      • Pally45…so funny, I just went back and listened to both and Adam’s version came nowhere close to her’s in my opinion. 

        He sang it wonderfully, but it was all theatrics with no real meaning or true emotion.

        Again…just my opinion.

    • Kris, I went back and listened to Syesha’s version..I barely remembered her. Yes, it was pretty good..still like Adam’s version. 😉

  33. I’m not even gonna try to predict who is gonna sing what. Man this is a tough list. I didn’t have any of these songs in mind. This is  funny. I am listening to all of them now by the original artist however I don’t expect any of them to sound the same. 

  35. The program will kick off at 10:30 est, if you want to get a vote in you better do it before then, once it kicks in you won’t get in at all, phone, text, and internet will be swamped. At least the producers will be happy by the huge increase in votes. Sorry Jess, but these judges must be taught a lesson.

    Technology can right the wrongs of human beings. 🙂

  38. I picked earlier that I would love to hear Josh sing ‘let’s get it on’, please let that be his selection for the then. I don’t think anybody bit him could absolutely kill my all time favorite song. Now I’m excited Please Josh be singing that song!!

  39. Hollie needs to do Rolling in the Deep and blow all the rest of the contestants out of the water. 

    However, if I could pick she would be doing Someone Like You instead.
    She is simply talented and the only person on that stage that can take on Adele and give her justice.

  41. Am not jumping up and down with the list. I just hope the contestants will bring a little flavor or twist in each song, otherwise, (hate to admit it) but its gonna be quite a boring slection. Its top 7 week and a redux….they need to step up and make their presence felt…..

  42. These song choices I might just skip the show and just read the recap. Born this Way by Lady Gaga has to be the most pretentious song ever recorded(not to mention the music and melody was stolen from Madonna), and can’t someone send out the memo saying that Adele songs should be put on a shelf for a couple of years when Adele won’t be so super popular anymore.

  44. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite tonight. People have up and down weeks so you can’t just base it on one performance. Vote for your own personal Idol not the one the judges want you to vote for. 

    They really disrespected all other contestants last week with their actions and words toward Jessica. Show them they can’t push someone down our throat and vote vote vote. It’s gonna be a good night. 

    • But don’t blame Jessica for their action–i think they were right in saving Jessica but that’s about it–they would have used the save for any of the other deserving contestants who were in danger last week.  I justt don’t think it was Jessica’s time to go.  She should be in the top 4 at least.   So America, please vote for your favorite and for the best!!  

  48. Well I would say any one of the songs from the Then category could be perfect for Joshua. I would predict Son Of A Preacher Man for Skylar, and Im a little scared of it to be honest. I would say whomever is doing Rolling In The Deep needs to seriously reconsider. Adele is great, but unless you are PERFECT, I wouldnt suggest it.

    • Boy, I sure hope Jessica doesn’t sing “Born This Way”.  I just watched the video — what total dreck — the only one who could do justice to this so-called song would be Hejun, but as a joke!  I could see him dressed up in one of those skeleton/zombie tuxedo costumes and singing his a** off!

  53. So it doesn’t ‘matter’ that Colton sang most of that song ‘under’, but yet Hollie can’t get through one performance without one of the judges commenting on her pitch. Come on judges, your aiding the teenie boppers when you refuse to critique Colton when HE is out of tune or gives a less than stellar performance. Come on guys, I like him, but he was not good with that song at all. I see why people are rallying behind Hollie.

Really a pity with some of the people here, imagine putting down a 16 yr old girl coz the judges believed in her talent, leave Jessica alone coz she just wanted to pursue her dreams… she just wanted to sing, she did not ask the judges to praise her everytime she performs. You all grow up, if you can’t say something good about her then if you just shut up you are giving her a favor not your votes. Come on, be matured…. if your bets were being praised Jessica isn’t doing anything, you are only showing that Jessica is much more matured than you people here who only knows how to bash and very good at putting a hardworking 16 y/o girl down… very low life, tsk tsk tsk…..

  57. I love the way Elise Testone sings and I love the way she handles the lyrics of the songs…………but I believe she is not taken by the viewers because her voice is raspy. Some times listeners and viewers can’t really get into your singing because it always sounds as if  you are hoarse.  I sing myself (in my church) and seem to notice this all the time. I pray she will win anyway.

  58. I believe it was all a hoax.  Jessica was never in danger of leaving the show.  It was the judges way of using the save.  Big mouth J.Lo among other things that are out of proportion.  She has to be melted and poured in her clothes.

  59. this is the reason Xfactor is better last decision is the judges… american idol has become a personality competition not a singing competition…there is so much talent but we have all the spoilers that want to teach a lesson. just dont watch instead we vote for the third best singer and then the only time we see these winners is when they come back on idol.. enough.  the younger singers this season are so talented. vote the best not on personality. remember the young singers are high school students they are not worldly but it doesn’t mean they aren’t the best…. singer… that is what this is a singing competition..
    if someone is too good on this show we look for something to hate about them. grow up

  62. Reading everyones comments on Jessica, really if you think she has a bad voice, your tone deafness has gotten the best of you she is one of the best on the show this season, what makes her special is the harrassment she reads that the haters such as yourselves post on any blog you can
