American Idol 2013: Best Auditions From The Girls During Hollywood Week

American Idol's Candice Glover

It couldn’t get any more obvious that American Idol 2013 is intended to be the season of the girls. The talent is clearly stronger and the editing is far more in favor of the girls. Whether or not that’s how the season will play out is up in the air. But one thing can’t be denied and that’s that from what we’ve seen so far, the girls are definitely superior.

So picking out the favorite performances from the girls’ Hollywood Week was easy. Here are the performances that stood out the most last week:

Angela Miller, “Set Me Free.” Is anyone surprised that this tops our list of favorites from last week? Idol fans are still buzzing over her outstanding performance of her original song “Set Me Free.” Her pulling this unforgettable moment could mean one of two things: she’s going to ride this wave all the way through to the finale or this was her peaking. Let’s hope it’s the former and not the latter because I want to hear more like the video below:

Janelle Arthur, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” If people aren’t talking about Angela, they’re talking about Janelle. She’s been on the Idol radar for the past few seasons and this seems to be the season that she’ll actually find her way into the live shows. She’s not the only country girl in the contest, but she’s the one that’s been getting the most airtime and rightly so. Her version of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” is just one of the few great performances we saw from her last week.

Candice Glover, “Impossible.” Much like Janelle, Candice has been a fan-favorite since last season and she’s really coming on strong this season. So we don’t expect her fate to end up the same as last season. She’ll most likely move on. And while some may have preferred her performance of “Girl On Fire,” it was Christina Aguilera’s “Impossible” that I thought shined more.

What were your favorite performances from last week’s American Idol 2013?
