American Idol Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox has signed on to play country music legend Patsy Cline on Broadway.
“It’s like a lifetime achievement thing,” she said. “I’m really happy about it.”
Crystal will star as the late country star in “Always … Patsy Cline”, which hits Broadway this summer.
“I grew up listening to her music, as most of us have, and I feel a special connection to her,” Crystal told The Hollywood Reporter. “Sadly, she died so young that she didn’t get to experience or really enjoy [her success]. It’s a tragic story and a great play and I’m really honored to be the one they chose to play Pasty.”
This is great new for Crystal and I think she’s very talented, but I must say I find her an interesting choice to play Patsy Cline. But I’ll save my judgements for after the show opens. I might be surprised.
2013 is turning out to be a big year for Crystal as she also is set to release her second album in March.
I think crystal will be fine playing patsy. They both sing ballads great. You show em girl…….
