Are you ready? American Idol 2010 premieres tonight on Fox at 8PM ET with a two-hour episode featuring the Boston auditions. From there we’ll get a 1hr15min episode on Wednesday with the Atlanta auditions.

I am soo looking forward to see the horrific auditions. I dont know why these people go on TV when they KNOW they can’t sing. They are very entertaining though. remember the most famous of them all..William Hung..LMOF.
I wonder how many of them think they really can sing. I’m amazed when those terrible singers are crushed that they didn’t get through the audition.

Faithful watcher for 8 seasons. As for me and my family we will not be watchin this year because of Ellen Degeneres. When I say family, I’m including 10 house holds. We will not be supporting your sponsors this year as well. It was one show 3 generations of family enjoyed watching but adding a non-musical, declared homesexual as judge, is not acceptable in our family sturcture.
What does Ellen’s sexuality have to do with a singing competition?

WOW!! I can not beleive that someone would be that ignorant as to make such a crude comment like that. You have your choice to watch the show, and you can have your obviously narrow minded, uneducated opinion on homosexuality, but to make a comment like that goes beyond intolerance. You clearly have no idea of other’s feelings. You probably dont beleive in homosexuality because the bible says man should not lie with man…the usual, but sweetheart the bible also says we are all children of god, and nobody is turned away…only god can judge you. Get a life, open your eyes and realize that it takes all kinds to make the world go around. If everyone had the same hot headed attitude as you the world would be a horrible place to live.

Reading these comments about Ellen is disgusting. So Carol, it bothers you more that Ellen is a lesbian than it bothered you to watch Simon belittle some of the people the way he did?? Not knocking his style, but Im willing to bet your homophobia is stimilated from your faith, and that says alot about you as a Christian. Im a lesbian and a Christian. =) Judge that.
I have watched and enjoyed Idol for many years. I truly look forward to the new season, but there are a few issues. Although I did not appreciate Paula’s wisdom and insight, the thought of Ellen giving an opinion and being on the show for the next 3 or 4 months in almost painful. Her wit and sarcasm are unbarable to me. I will truely miss Simon after this season and feel it will change the show in a big way for me, probably end my viewing pleasure. But if Ellen continues after this season, I can gauranty it will end for me.

WOW, I cannot even FATHOM that someone would even have the AUDACITY to write something like that about Ellen. As a firm believer in God, I’m 100% certain that JUDGING people is not an ok thing to do as a “religious” person. As “shocked” says, we are ALL children of God and people need to just suck it up and keep their ignorant comments to themselves. If someone is so narrow minded and “by the book”, then you shouldn’t even be watching TV or on the internet for that matter because it is believe to be a sin. Unbelievable!

Sue, Carol – get educated, not opinionated. I support the comments from “shocked” above. Being gay isnt always a choice – sometimes people are wired incorrectly from conception. Medical studies have proved this time and time again. And yeah – I am totally straight, have no gay friends..or even know of anyone thats gay. But I do know that medically, being gay has been proved. Lets hope no one you love ever announces this because you would disown them…just like good christians do..???? Just as some are born deaf, some born with downs, some with ADD, some are born with extra limbs, some can also be born with internal gender mixups. Gods not perfect-nor are all his “works” but he loves the mixups no matter what those mixups are. Thank goodness, otherwise he would strike us all off the list for one thing or another.

American Idol has done so much for American TV. It has given us 8 Idols of which may have never succeeded in life without this show. Of course we will have a preliminary period inwhich non singers will try to get on the show… this is part of the journey. I love American Idol. My favorite Judge is Simon. After he leaves, I don’t believe the show will be the same. However, by Ellen being on the show makes for “Good TV” and I will watch as often as I can. “Go American Idol”
Anyone know where I can get a list of the songs on the show used as “bumper” music? Ya know the music used between contestants (not sung by contestants). Used before and after going to commercials? There were many, one song was from the Rolling Stones? Thanks!
American Idol is not the same without Paula Abdul and once Simon leaves Randy will be the only one left who I feel makes a great judge, but will not be enough to keep me interested. We have all different type of talent shows, but Paula, Simon and Randy were the ones who really made the show. As far as Kara as a judge she is so into her self, thinks she is God and is above the rest. Kara does not have a nice personality and is not very nice. At least Paula had a heart. After last night I probably will not be watching American Idol once Simon leaves, but I will look forward to seeing Simons new show.

I would like to tell you the reason why we are watching the American idol show. It is to see the different talents. Not to see the Judges acting like children.
At list we try to teach the children not to hurt the feelings of others.
A lot of times the judges are laughing and rolling their eyes and so many other childish things they are doing and saying.
Tonight a boy named Jessy Hamilton forgot his song title, of the song Tomorrow never comes. and Merry J. Blige could not stop laughing.
I would like to know what she was laughing about. She did not even hear his voice yet. Was she laughing because of his looks. We all know we have no control of how we look.
I am Pretty sure she is not perfect either. I am sure of that because none of us are perfect.
Are the judges getting extra money to make these kids look like they do not have nothing to leave for. Hard to believe, but never impossible.

As far as the American Idol Show I have been watching it faithfully since it has been on. It is hard for these contestants to come on stage in the first place. At least when Paula, Randy and Simon worked together they were sincere and were there for the contestants. Kara only cares about her self and will do anything to be noticed. Kara comes across as being mean with no feeling. This is the reason I can’t stand to watch it she just turns me off. It is a shame because I really enjoyed the show for so many years, and enjoyed looking at all the faces of the contestants. The stories they told the hardships they had to go through and never gave up. I always felt this show was encouragement for others not to give up on your dreams, but Kara has just changed the whole way I look at the show now.

i am so happy ellen will be a judge ,she will do a great job ,she doesn t have to be musically endowed ,she has ears just like everyone else ,and i know i can t sing but i know when some one is off key , and i wish people would stop bashing ellen ,and last year adam ,sounds like jealousy to me , they are people and are just like us ,but have difference so leave them alone ,and if you are not watching idol why are you writing on here !
Ellen DeGeneres surely knows performance. The girl’s got rhythm and she can sing with rhythm, dig her rendition of Snoop on her comedy special and her dancing every episode of her own show.
As for her sexual orientation, that’s got nothing to do with her judging musical talent. Now, if she was judging something that couldn’t be on regular tv and viewed by families, well. That’s not what she’s judging. But what’s interesting is that homosexuality is rampant in the music business which doesn’t have a negative impact against us straight music fans. And so what if so many music business folks are gay?
