American Idol 2010 returns tonight when the remaining Top 11 performers take to the stage to sing Teen Idols, no wait, now it’s Billboard #1’s. So as we noted, the theme changed for this week’s performance (no reason has yet been announced), but the mentor and guest performers remained the same: Miley Cyrus along with Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato. Teeny Boppers rejoice!
So last week went just as I had hoped as we wished Lacey Brown farewell, though Tim Urban managed to reggae his way through to another week, possibly his last. Considering the new theme, who do you think has the best chance and who just might be singing his or her swan song?

I can’t picture Miley giving artistic advice to Crystal. She could, however, provide some valuable information to all the Idols about dealing with the media and handling the business of entertainment. Everyone can benefit from that.
I think Miley can give some great tips to Katie and Aaron as age peers and Didi as sort of in her niche. And I also think that Siobhan will really enjoy meeting Cyrus. Listening to anything Miley has to offer her with a genuine smile and respect – And maybe talking about both being in semi-oddball families with musician Dads and about being in stage productions since age 7-ish, (though of course Siobhan was in a much. nuch smaller pond.)
The thing with Miley is that she is a hugely successful artist who like so many, got there by building and keeping a huge loyal fan base. Critics might be snooty, but Cyrus is a sold-out concert, platinum record, hit show phenomenon now wishing to see about getting in film.
oh, Tim has the best chance to win. Good solid voice……..great looks, he’s def an image of the total young American Idol and this week’s music theme should really draw the audience he needs to capture the most votes.
Tim is here to stay………….and to win in my modest opinion!
hey, not too thrilled with this teen mentor,etc, i liked it better when it was 60s,50s,and other performers,broadway too, i love sibean from the cape, she is the best and has the best personality, but too much talking and profiling each week getting bored and old…
I think Aaron Kelly has a great chance of making it. I think He has outstanding control, skill, and talent, especially for someone his age. I am amazed, after being in radio programming for years, and also as a professional vocalist myself. Besides, total album sale revenues have got to be higher when you tack a few years onto the beginning of a career… I think he’s great and I trust my ears.
I like Miley Cyrus so it will be great to have her on as a mentor..she is a good singer. dont know who Demi Lovato is. Hope my fav Crystal picks a great song and knock all the haters(including the judges)socks off.
Cant wait to see what Sanjaya does.
How many go home this week? Is AI still do one per week? Crystal is my favorite followed by Lee. He needs to boost his confidence he always looks scared.
@Phyllis: Yep, Billboard #1 songs was the theme for several weeks already.
@Cathy: Just one person will be eliminated this week. That should be the approach through the rest of the season (save for Idol Gives Back week).

Sometimes the contestants perform better on the weeks that I am not excited about. I can only hope that much is true for tonight. So far I’m enjoying watching reruns of the last couple of seasons more than I’m enjoying this season’s shows.
I can’t think why Miley Cyrus would be a mentor. What is she, 17 or 18? Mentors are people who can give wise counsel, right? Maybe I’m just confused about what a mentor is supposed to do. I think it’s all about keeping the teenage audience and younger entertained. My grandson loves Miley Cyrus, but he’s nine.
Paige needs to go after her performance tonight and Tim Urban, is also likely on his way out.
Shioban also got on my nerves a bit tonight too … she speaks .. so .. slow … Crystal was great as usual and really has immense talent. Casey, Michael and Lee, also performed well and so did Aaron Kelly for that matter.
It’s just time for Paige to make her exit ..
They were all pretty bad.
I liked Siobhan’s hair. That’s about it.
I used to get excited about A.I. Now I watch it just in case someone actually sings something good. Still waiting.
My youngest child,27 got me to watch American Idol about 5 or 6 yrs. ago. I have enjoyed it, specially Simons comments, I have not always agreed with the winning choices. This year has not been a good year, I like a couple of them, including Crystal, but just am embaresed for the rest. I hope it stays good after Simon leaves.
I Totally agree with Judy(Black) Smith…..his voice is spectacular.I can’t stop listening. it makes me want more..even though he will sing the whole day i don’t think i’ll be bored…i love it..he is awesome! I wish i can vote…..i hope you’ll win!

Last night was awful.Really awful! This is the worst year ever. Where is the talent? I know only one leaves tonight and I hope it is Tim (Paige should go this week too). If I have to hear him sing one more time,I am going to hurl. He does not have what it takes at all. He must be getting votes from young girls with a crush on him. He should not have made the first cut in Hollywood. What did they see in him originally. It is a distant memory now.
Crystal was too predictable last night. PLEASE get rid of the guitar and what was up with the carpet?? Very weird.
I love Big Mike. He was good last night.
I still think that Siobhan is awesome. I know she likes to do that high note/screech in her songs, but she wakes everyone up when she performs in a similar way that Adam Lambert did. She had a great look last night as well. She is still my favorite. You go Siobhan!

I dont think this is the worst season! I find all the contestants extremely talented and original more than the past seasons…
Lee Dewyze, Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan, Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott, Casey James, Aaron Kelly – they are all very good singers, they have very dictinct voices…
You people are being too critical and too hard on everyone! Lets learn to aprreciate more. Its not as if they aren’t making any effort to give a good performance!
