American Idol 2013: Audience Will Vote On Top 10, FOX Confirms

American Idol 2013 judges

This season on American Idol 2013 there has been a lot of debate and discussion on the pending changes we’d see for how the finalists were selected. Now we know more, thanks to FOX’s Mike Darnell, who is in charge of Alternative Entertainment.

Rumor had it that we’d see a big change this season where instead of the audience voting down a Top 24 to a Top 10 the judges would instead hand pick those singers. Holding back viewers until the Top 10 would be a drastic change, but that’s not what’s going to happen says Darnell.

Instead of the judges (ahem, the producers) picking the Top 10 overall they’ll be picking the Top 10 for boys and Top 10 for girls. Then from there the audience will begin its role as the deciders and vote through the rest of the season.

Are you glad the audience has a hand in more of the voting or do you think the judges/producers know best?

    • The audience has started voting earlier than the Top 20 in the past. But the issue was a rumor that viewers wouldn’t get involved in the eliminations until the Top 10. That rumor has now been put to rest.

  1. Honestly they would have been better off limiting votes like the other two shows. Then the voting wouldn’t be hijacked by Tweens.

  2. I like the chage up in voting. Idol needs shaking up a bit! More twist needed. It’s gotten so predictable!

  3. are u freaking kidding me Nicki… she is a freaking joke she talks out of her nose cant sing and she is in charge of some great voices up there, Keith pls stick by those that u know can do it, American idol sticks some of these great voices and they get axed because nicki the one that sings and speaks out her nose and sound like sh*t she is the one that sends them home… really, is she just afraid of the one that sounds so much better then her?
