This week on American Idol 2012 the remaining finalists will be taking on British songs, but they won’t be receiving any guidance from a Brit. Instead they’ll be hearing from a member of an iconic American band.
Entertainment Weekly (via MJ’s) has learned the Top 5 singers sat down with Jimmy Iovine and Steven Van Zandt, Bruce Springsteen’s guitarist from the E Street Band, though you might also recognize him as Silvio Dante from The Sopranos.
Per the typical timeline each week on American Idol, the singers likely met with Van Zandt late last week to practice what they’ll be singing during Wednesday’s live performance show.
We expect to have the Top 5’s song list provided by Idol sometime Wednesday afternoon, but in the meantime we can continue to speculate and discuss what we’d like to hear. Read through Branden’s song list to see what he’s recommending each of the American Idol 2012 Top 5 finalists take on this week.

Neat that he’s the mentor. His Voice of America album is my favorite of all time. I’m not a democrat or anything, I just think it’s got a bunch of cool songs.
Also, while I’ve never met the guy personally, we’ve got some mutual friends. I haven’t talked to these people in a awhile, so seeing him as a mentor is kinda prompting me to reconnect w/ em. So glad he’s the mentor on that account too.
Steven Van Zandt will be awesome…definitely has the experience and plays a pretty mean guitar..Idol needs a good pick me up.

Last week after Joshua performed the camera flashed over to Steven Van Zandt and you saw him say/mouth Joshua was his favorite lol, then Nigel (the producer) turned and nodded to him

i agree that jessica, hollie, and phillip have the strongest fanbase. i think it will come down to jessica and phillip though. the fanbase for thoughs too are huge and completely different from eachother and they are about 16,000 followers apart from eachother on twitter with everyone else following about 100,000 followers behind.
that’s true, but come to think of it.. JS followers could be from other countries who can’t vote or limited for several votes online, so that could mean Phillip could have the advantage.

American Idol Season 11 is the most exciting final events this year.All the 5 contestants are all good but Jessica Sanchez much more ahead of them,with her pure vocal ability she got very popular to all poll rating sites in the internet world globaly,most commented,most dicussed good or bad remarks & publicity,most visited in video streaming sites elsewhere they are curious of her age at 16 her vocal range is incredible & fantastic to listen.
