American Idol winner Caleb Johnson can’t wait to get started on the next phase of his career, putting out awesome tunes for his fans. He doesn’t want to just release a great debut album, however, he has bigger and bolder ideas in mind for the future.
“I want to write a rock opera,” Caleb Johnson told reporters in a press conference after winning American Idol 2014. “I want to do a zombie rock opera. I want to do something crazy out there.”
Caleb still seems rather astonished that he actually made it to the top on American Idol after trying out for two previous seasons and never making it to the finals.
“After the past seasons, I went home and busted my butt, wrote music and played out shows, and I just worked and worked and worked and worked,” Caleb said. “That’s why I’m so comfortable now onstage as you see me. It’s just a natural thing because of all the groundwork I did at home.”
Even so, Caleb is still trying to wrap his head around being voted the American Idol 2014 winner. “I mean, look at me guys,” Caleb said. “It’s crazy. … I’m probably the antithesis of what American Idols have been.”

Caleb is going to be very lucky if he gets any say whatsoever in the
direction of his album. That’s just the way it has always gone for
these Idol albums.
LOL! Yep. So true! This album of his is going to be unbelievably pop-rock. Whether he wants it to or not.
