Curtis Finch Jr. took as to church, as they say, on last night’s American Idol 2013 when he performed his version of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”

Curtis and the other Top 10 guys sang for America’s votes and a spot on the season 12 Top 10, which we will learn tonight. Curtis earned high praise from the judges and the viewers seem to really enjoy it as well. His performance is ranked pretty high on YouTube.

As I mention in my recap last night, I don’t love Curits’ style of music, but he’s definitely talented. There’s zero denying that. If you missed his performance last night or just want to see it again, we’ve got it below. Let us know what you think.

What do you think of Curtis Finch Jr.? Does he have what it takes to become the next American Idol?

  1. I’m not sure about Curtis yet. He’s talented but, I still think Nick B has something special that is more appealing to me personally. Devin is also exceptional. I thought that’s what it took to get to the top 10. Seems like that has changed this year. Maybe the 3 of them will get through and we’ll get to hear more from all. Wishful thinking, I know.

    • Curtis has a great voice, but needs to control it a lot more than he has. I find myself getting irritated by the time he finishes his song.

      • Really! I had the same thought about Curtis. Can’t put my finger on exactly what the reason for it is. Randy sure seems to like him but he seems to like to everyone with that style of singing.

  2. I just watched Curtis’ performance again and it wasn’t the religious experience described by a lot of other people. Maybe I’m missing something. The judges were thrilled so I guess it is just me. I miss Nick Boddington. Does anyone else?

  3. Curtis, I feel a little bit religious and a little carnal at the same time. Without a doubt you can sing, but those who know God and have a “relationship” with God can feel the difference. It may be your walk and not your talk, or as American Idol would go your singing.
    But good luck anyway.
