American Idol finalist Jena Irene Ascuitto isn’t afraid to take risks with her song choices, and we think both of hers this week were pretty brave!
We expected Jena’s version of “Cant’ Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley would probably be fine even if it wasn’t perfect, but it was her choice of “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar that could make or break her chances to make the final two.
No one should even try to sing Pat Benatar — especially this song — unless you are truly confident you can pull it off without sounding off key or like a cheap imitation. We have to applaud Jena Irene for making a bold move by choosing such a tough song to sing. The question is, will the viewers think she rocked it or rolled under the pressure?
