American Idol judge Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, his wife of almost 10 years, will not be renewing their marriage vows. Despite gossip the two would be celebrating their tenth anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony, the country star says no such event is happening. As for those nasty rumors the couple needs something special to renew their connection before they end up in divorce, Kidman says her marriage to Urban is “strong.”
When asked if he and wife Nicole Kidman would be renewing their vows for their anniversary in June, Keith Urban told People very clearly that they would not be doing so. “No,” he said. “I don’t know where they get half of this stuff from.” Kidman responded as well, saying that there is no need for the two of them to have such a ceremony. “We don’t need to,” she told People. “The vows are strong, we keep them.”
On the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman proved their continuing love by holding hands and snuggling in front of the cameras. Laughing off any rumors of trouble in their marriage that might prompt a need for some kind of vow renewal, they told reporters they just enjoy each other and want to be close whenever they can.
“We do. We fly all over the world [to visit each other]. But not out of obligation, just because I like him,” Kidman said. “Out of want,” Urban added, “It’s a short life, too, you know. It really is.”
