Mariah Carey Says American Idol 2013 Felt ‘Unsafe’ After Nicki Minaj Threats

Mariah Carey joins American Idol

We all know that Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were fighting onset during the American Idol 2013 auditions but it seems like that’s all calmed down since the initial explosions.

Mariah has since admitted that in the fallout of her claims that Nicki threatened to shoot her she hired additional security and considered her American Idol workplace “unsafe.”

Mariah Carey admitted she increased security amid claims fellow American Idol judge Nicki Minaj ‘reeled threats’ at her.

The mother of twins, who was filmed arguing with her 30-year-old rival in auditions, said it felt like an ‘unsafe’ place to work.

‘Sitting there on the road with two babies, I’m not going to take any chances,’ the 42-year-old told ABC’s Barbara Walters.

Of course Mariah Carey also revealed that she hoped the drama between her and Nicki Minaj would help boost the show’s ratings. Meanwhile, Nigel Lythgoe has maintained that he did not leak the footage of the judges arguing off-camera. Sure, sure. We believe you, Nigel.

Get ready to see just how rough things got between the dueling divas when American Idol Season 12 premieres on January 16th and 17th on FOX.
