American Idol 2012 champion Phillip Phillips’ single “Home” has gone platinum and the singer-songwriter was presented with the honor on The Today Show Tuesday morning.
That means Phillips’ winning song from Season 11 of American Idol has sold more than $1 million digital downloads. The song had stablized in the months following the Idol finale, but when it was used as the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics anthem during this summer’s Olympics, the sales were revived. It’s also the first Idol winning song I’ve heard on the radio in years. So that says a lot.
His song was also featured on the trailer for Clint Eastwood’s new move, “Trouble With The Curve.”
Phillip performed “Home” on the Today Show and you can see that below. Phillip’s first album is expected to be out in November or December.

Good for him. It’s a great song & I’m glad he’s doing well w/ it.
Can’t wait for his album to come out so I can get a copy of it. Congrats to Phil for his success and I am so hoping for successful career for him.
Nice job….good to see good things happening to good people. Love that song & I really like his original song that is posted on youtube…Take Me Away. Really looking forward to his album.
Good for him! Platinum! Wow.
Yay Phillip!!!
i just love the way he sings its so much different .wow for home song going platinum keep it coming phillip phillips (hugssss);)
Happy for him. BTW my local station plays David Cook’s coronation single fairly often.
Good job Phillip. Best of luck to you.
It was his answer to those who were skeptical of his voice and talent.
I just heard that randy Jackson isn’t coming back next season.
Interesting…..good for him…..however……did he really sell a million copies of that song to qualify for platinum?
I saw him on Kelly Rippa’s show and he sang well. Sitting on the panel he seemed very nervous and fidgety. This is all so new to him so hopefully in time, he will learn to enjoy his success. He evolves into a different person on stage. I sincerely believe he was the right choice for the win and I hadn’t been happy with Idol since Adam.
