Your votes are in and here come the results. Tonight on American Idol 2010 we’ll see the first four eliminations from the Top 24 when Seacrest breaks out the drama and sends home the lowest two votees from the girls’ and the boys’ sides of the aisle.
Along with the results there will be lots of other excitement to fill the hour episode (which starts at 8PM) including the return of Kris Allen for a live performance of his own. I have always been disappointed with the sound balance for the top 24 – the whole broadcast is sub-par quality qise. Every show I watch, Grammy’s, CMMA’s, Oscars and on and on have outstanding sound. I was so looking forward to the top 24 because in the last few weeks you could hear that they really sing. Now they sound like someone singing in a gym. Come on FOX get your audio people to give us what we expect from you.
I was a little surprised by the sound quality last night too. I could barely hear Jermaine but maybe that was his fault. Either way I hope things get better in that area.
Maybe it was nerves, but I think this is the worst top24 ever. I wouldnt waste my time taking up the phone.
Ths year, the judges are just as bad as the contestants. Their choices for an American Idol were horrible. There isn’t one who can carry a tune. Sorry for these comments, for the show, to me, is very boring.
OK let me start off with huh???? It just seems like went the show first started it was about someone who looked good and can sing American Idol. When I think of Idol I think of the teen beat magazines back in the day. Basically one maybe sang in chorus in High School which a lot of these contestants probably did and when the show first started off they were asked to just sing and now the show has evolved where someone changed the tempo and the arraingment of the song and now they are all expected to do this make the song their own? Now you have to be the artist song writer etc? I thought thats what they did. They write the song you tell me how to do it then we go into the studio and with the machines make my voice better then package me and sell me. I mean on the British got talent they just assumed because of what Paul Potts and Susan Boyle looked liked that they couldnt sing? How many times have you heard “We didnt expect that out of you?” And all they said was hello? Basically I think the judges dont know what they are talking about. They tell one person that they need to sing current songs and then another they should sing Bad Company? Uh that was over 30yrs ago yea thats current. Then they berate the last guy for turning around the song totally and then pat the guy with long hair ( I like his stuff though
) on his song which was actually like Bryan Adams so where was his making the song his own. Basically just think its funny that the judges make their comments and what they say noone knows what they are saying. We at home are like “what?” And the contestants have this blank stare on their face like I have no idea what you just said.
The show doesn’t have anyone who even compares to Adam Lambert. HE WAS THE SHOW LAST SEASON. Alison was great too. No one has the star power to keep me interested to watch this year.
I agree Adam Lambert was the best that this show has ever seen, it will be impossible to find someone like that again!
Out of so many hundreds of thousand contestants, this is the best singers the judges heard? WOW!!!!All 12 of the females were awful on Tuesday night. There were a few guys who did ok, just ok. They were sooo much better during the auditions. I really hope they get better.

i completely agree with everything dan said! the judges don’t do anything but confuse the contestants with their comments. and what’s up with the judges saying that this is the best top 12 girls that they’ve ever had?? i think not. i like 2 or 3 out of all 24 contestants and they aren’t even all that great. it’s going to be a very slow, sad, and very disappointing season!
I believe we have seen the best idol can offer last season. Who can top Adam Lambert, only another Adam and who needs that? I must say that it is early in the program and there is time for grooming but if we are expecting the quality that Adam produced, it likely will not happen. Perhaps there is room for a female competitor for this year. The judges have been confusing with their critique and expectations. I suspect they are harsh in their commentary based on last years high quality contestant performance. I know I have little desire at this stage to become engaged. I will continue to watch if only to observe the growth and development of a very few of the present contestants.
I agree that no one will top Adam Lambert, he was amazing. This year however I think America wants something different.
For the guys, only Andrew Garcia and Casey James have that something different (with Andrew being in a category of his own). Lee Dewyze has a radio quality voice so he may also make it pretty far.
For the girls, I think Crystal Bowersox and Lilly Scott really stand out for their unique talents. Crystal is interesting because she just wants to be here to make money for her kid, and doesn’t really care about being a star. Whily Lilly sounds like an iPod commercial, her voice is still addictive and I want to hear more each time I listen to her.

ADAM LAMBERT should make an 80’s cover album!!! His voice actually would suit WHITESNAKES DAVID COVERDALE SONGS: “IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT” AND “CRYING IN THE RAIN”. Anyone reading this post, please please please download these two songs from Limewire and listen to them and THEN answer this question on this thread. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW TOTALLY UNFRIGGIN BELEIVABLE ADAM LAMBERT will be able to sing the ^%$&^ out of those songs? HOW ABOUT HIS WHOLLELOTTA LOVE COVER????UNBELEIVABLE!! I think that American Idol fans and the judges are having some serious Adam Lambert withdrawal symptoms as I know I am. The show is just not the same without him on it. It’s trust very booring now and I hope Adam Lambert comes back to perform. maybe he can show the other contestants how to unleash a bit…..
as i agree that adam lambert has been the best contestant that’s been on the show, that isn’t what’s making this season awful. there are just no contestants that stand out…no rockers, no good country singers, etc. everybody loved daughtry when he was on and also carrie underwood. just cause there’s nobody in comparison to adam lambert doesn’t mean the show couldn’t have better singers. i think the judges may have made some mistakes this season. there’s no way that out of as many people that tried out that there’s wasn’t a few rare jewels they could’ve discovered.
I think it’s too early to call this season crap, because as I recall last year, the first voting week wasn’t all that great either. Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, and Adam Lambert gave great performances, the rest were all “meh.” They were all excellent in Hollywood. One should give them another chance here.
Yes, there is no one who can top Adam Lambert (come on, we all knew this would happen), but there are VERY few of him around. You’re not likely to find another Adam Lambert every season – you might never find another again, in fact. But I think these guys should be given another shot, see how they do next week.
As for who’s going home, I’m going to say Lacey Brown, maybe Ashley Rodriguez, Tim Urban, and possibly Tyler Grady.

I totally agree. As I predicted prior to this seaons, Adam Lambert is going to be the downfall of Idol. It’s won’t be due to losing Paula or Simon. These last two nights were almost unwatchable. Thanks heavens for Andrew Garcia and Casey James so at least I have something to tune in for. I think Casey James won the night however I didnt understand their comments about Andrew. I thought he sounded and performed great.

I agree, is this really the best they could find? They should always bring in the REALLY great singers. But if its a choice between:
1) just a great singer with no personality, no stage presents, and no performance value
and
2) A good singer with a great personality who is a great performer and has great stage presents.
I think they should choose number 2. That way you have the REALLY great singers along with good singers who are REALLY great performers. People always say American Idol is a singing show. Singing is only one part of it. Really great singers who are boring to watch is not what make American Idol work. You have to enjoy watching these people perform every week.
Continuing comment: Now I know why Simon Cowell is leaving the show. American Idol is falling apart, and he wants no part of it. The panel is awful, the singers are horrible. I wouldn’t know who to vote for, so I am not voting. Who, actually, picked these “24”? The panel or the producers. Wow, what a selection.

Hi Debi, I think that because Adam Lambert raised the bar so high last season it is very hard to watch this season. I think that Adam made the show very exciting to watch and now it doesn’t have the spark. It’s unfortunate but I think I agree with whoever posted the withdrawal symptoms post….it’s so true! AM I THE ONLY ONE who is suffering?????? 🙁
Oh I forgot to give props to Katie Stevens, the high school student with the grandma who has alzheimers. That girl has some chops for being only 17!

I was really looking forward to this season but i am not connecting to anyone yet. I do think that the girls were better than the guys.

Little disappointed with the contestants this year, as do others I know who watch the show also aree with my thoughts. The judges keep talkig about the talent this year….I don’agree. Last years were much better.
I agree that Tom Urban was the wrong choice for replacement, I really think they should have call Samuel Larsen instead.
Thes contestant do not even compare to previous IDOL contestants: Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, David Cook,Elliot Yamin, Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis, danny Gokey, Matt Gerard, Adam Lambert to name a few. There is no star power here. This season is doomed!!!!
I have to agree with Irving. The talent is not that great this season. You can see that Simon is not loving it. I think Ellen does not know how to be a critic. I cringe everytime she tries to analize the singer. The way things are going this could be the last year for American Idol. The talent is lacking and I losing my enthusiasm to watch it at all. I do like Siobhan and Lee so far. Who is coaching them as to what songs they are singing? Step up the pace before I stop watching. I generally love this show. It gets me through the cold winter nights. This year not so much.
Does anybody else other than my wife and I also feel that Simon has “a personal dislike” for Jermaine Sellers. It seems to us that Simon is once again giving another “person” the very same type comments and treatment that he gave to Jennifer Hudson. We only hope Simon realizes that he does not have the power to stop “God’s Anointed”!!!!
Casy James seems to be the only interesting contestant thus far and he’s not that outstanding. It most definitely will be very difficult to have another Adam Lambert and I truly miss him. But this year’s contestants are really putting me to sleep–boring is about all I can say. And the judging is boring also. Very disappointing.
Everyone was worried Ellen……She is not the problem……Its the talent…..Lets all hope that this is going to get better with time…..because so far its very….very….disappointing….

I think the first couple weeks of “elimination” week are also the “nerve” and let me get aquainted with the “stage and audience” week for most of the contestants, no matter how comfortable they thought they were prior to American Idol. We really do need to give them all a chance to get into their “zones” and I know that American Idol will end up being a success and more so for one lucky contestant in the end!! Good luck to all the contestants, this should be an interesting season!! 🙂

The girls were much better than the boys. I would really like to see Lilly Scot win. She has her own unique voice. My second vote for a girl would be Chrystal, another unique voice and interesting personality.
Out of the boys, I picked Casey James and Michael Lynch. I also like John Parks voice although the song he picked last night was not a good choice.
One thing I’m very curious about is why was Simon looking off to the left so much. What was he looking at?

Replying to Mike G.. I totally agree with Simon on Jermaine Sellers. He sounded terrible last night. If he wasn’t screaming he was just plain out of tune. Jermaine seems to think hes Gods gift. He’s in his own fantasy world. He should be the first to be eliminated. No talent and no class.
True there will NEVER be another Adam Lambert…Thank you Jesus!!!! The problem this year is the talent (lack of) and the judges!! Ellen is an embarrassement and Simon doesn’t seem very interested!! I love Idol and I’m going to stick it out as there are a few with potential and always room for growth. Having said that please please replace Ellen with someone that knows at least a little about music!!!!
rene…i heard once in an interview that simon doesn’t always like to watch the contestants as they sing. when he looks away, he hears only their voices and isn’t distracted by the way they are dressed or their dance moves or whatever else. i think the reason it’s to his left is because nobody sits on that side of him. if he looked to his right, he’d be all up in kara.
oh yea…and there’s one girl that i really liked that didn’t make it to the top 24. i don’t know her name but she had short brown hair and if you recall, simon said “that was a mistake” after they told her she didn’t make it. i thought she was much better than some of the girls now.

My Predictions : The two girls leaving tonight will be Janelle Wheeler and Lacey Brown. The two guys leaving tonight will be two out of these three…Tim Urban, Tyler Grady, Alex Lambert.
Ok, first off, lets get off the I miss Adam crap!! Adam is not part of Idol this year, I miss some of the past contestants also , but bottom line they are not part of this season nor is Adam so sitting here saying I miss this one or that one is a waste of breath……………………………….
No doubt, this season is off to a rocky start for sure but I have no doubt that in a couple of weeks as this years contestants work out the nerves and what ever it might be that is keeping them from performing up to their capabilities, they will shine. Just as in past years it always seems that they all have a very rough first time live performance, yes of course they were and always will be exceptions but honestly I have been watching this show for the past 7 years faithfully and it is kind of the same thing every year. I can honestly say I was very excited to see this years talent after a long drawn out audition and Hollywood week………… Lets not forget some of the amazing performances there were during the Auditions and Hollywood week!
There is absolutely talent in this group of contestants, mark my words , you will see it in the next few weeks. My call is the top 3 girls and guys will be …. Casey James, Andrew Garcia & AAron Kelly, the Girls will be Didi Benami, Lilly Scott and Crystal Bowersox..
So I really think we need to give them a chance to work it out so to speak, but on another subject the judges are really killing me this year.. First off 4 is too many Judges, secondly, Kara and Ellen talk way too much, Ellen seemed okay during Hollywood week but now it seems like she is trying to hard and it seems like she is feeling obligated to make a joke every time she talks. I like her on her TV show and think she does a great job on it but pretty sure this isn’t the right format for her.. Kara seems to be trying to be more and more like Paula and its really not working.. Randy hasn’t changed much over the years and for the most part he is tolerable, as much as I don’t really like Simon, he is the man, because he just says it like it is… I will say there has been an odd occasion here or there where I didn’t agree with him but generally he is spot on. It’s really going to be difficult for the show to be as popular when he leaves at the end of this season but I guess I will have to start watching his new American version of the X -Factor. I have notices on that show he is a bit kinder to the contestant or so it seems… I guess in summary all I will say is give this years contestants a break and see if they can work it out before totally trashing the entire lot of them because I do think we will soon discover there is some very talented individuals in this years competition. Let me give you an analogy… I am very talented at what I do for work, but when I interviewed for my current job I was as nervous as hell and know I didn’t “perform” as well I as normally do because I was interviewing with the President of the Company. Its called nerves, but once I settled down it was a piece of cake and I do what I do and do it well, just as they will.. enjoy this years competition , it will get much better..

I was very disappointed in the reaction that the judges had for Andrew Garcia. We were listening to the same performance? I thought that was a wonderful rendition of Fall Out Boys. Stop talking about the “Straight Up” performance already, he can’t sing that every week and for the judges to say that last night’s performance was not original – are you deaf? By far, Andrew was one of the best of the night and I haven’t even decided who I like the best yet.
I watched both the girls and the boys and I was extremely dissapointed in what I heard. I thought they would have been much better than they were. I sure hope it was first time gitters and that they will all improve on weeks to come.
I completely agree with B (comment 43) Ellen wants to be nice with everyone in spite of their bad deliveries because she is like that, a nice person who sees positive in everybody but I noticed that during the songs, she addresses to the rest of the judges trying to catch something to say besides I like you and you are adorable. For the rest of the judges PLEASE make an agreement!! You want good singing? or you want changing the songs? Every contestant is different and they just CANT change every song there is out there, sometimes to sing well is more than enough. Lambert is something else, his talent is beyond expectations and nobody can ask everyone to be the same as he is. Besides Lambert is not in American Idol anymore.
These 24 people are trying their best to make us see they deserve the place they are in, lets us give them the chance to shine. The first night is always very very difficult. Besides if the judges start to say good things since the beginning the show loses interest because after a good comment must be a better one and they don’t want to repeat themselves. This is TV people all is about suspense and business.
By the way my favourites are Garcia and Munoz for the boys and Siobhan Magnus and Chrystal Bowersox for the girls.

To be honest I saw no standouts over the last 2 nights, this will be a grim unwatchable season if they don’t step up. Mediocre performances, nothing original, very, very blah. Where is the spark the originality, why the terrible song choice, after all these years you would think that the contestants would get a clue. Don’t know if I will be able to watch the whole lot, if it does not get better. I would have sent all but two home after the last two nights.

There is no one in the top 24 that even has 1/2 of the talent as last years group.
If Adam Lambert would have never come into our lives last year then myself and many others would not be having such serious withdrawal symptoms……for those who were into the show last year because of Adam, they know what I’m talking about. I had to replay all of his performances after I watched the last 2 episodes because it was so depressing. Watching the Adam re-runs brought my spirits right up again……

Many Adam Lambert fans commenting here. As a Kris Allen fan, I would say, Adam was much pimped from the very start last season. For this year, the judges have yet to go all out to pimp any one in particular although they would like a girl to win.
This is the first AI I watch and the question is: where is the talent? The two shows were quite boring, wrong song choices, and really very bad singers. The interesting thing is that during the auditions I thought they would be much better. Did everyone forget to sing? Yeah, there are a few who basically can’t…

I can’t believe Tyler Grady attempted to sing that song again after he ruined it the first time. I’m glad he’s gone and I never want to hear the song “American Woman” again. At least they were good enough to cut him short last night.
i don’t really think tim is worse than anyone else. none of them are very good this year. i think all (now 20) are decent singers, but not star material. i think the judges made a mistake on maybe not passing contestants that should’ve been passed and instead passing the wrong ones.
and kara needs to be careful on her obvious crush on casey…she’s going to end up getting herself in trouble.

Ok all you critics that would rather watch paint dry than Idols, pick up your remote and watch CNN or something else. Truth of the matter is Idols works & has produced many stars which would not have been recognized should there not have been Idols & Simon. If you guys cannot sing better than the contestants shut your pie hole, on a positive note I would like to say that I really like Crystal – Unique – she reminds me a bit of Tracy Chapman.
I absolutely do not agree concerning Adam Lambert. How in the world can you think that silly, nilly is a great singer. The kid screams and acts silly and you think that being silly is talent? WHAT? He’s so yesterday unless you’re still in high school.
I realize that it can be difficult for those who are not gifted in singing to appreciate true talent in others when they hear it. I have been a professional singer and vocal coach for several years, and in my opinion, Adam Lambert is a rare talent. Someone possessing such a gift does not come along very often. I have seen that his lifestyle has cost him populatity with some, which was enough to cost him the win last season, but no matter the life style, talent is talent, and after all, it is a singing competition.
