American Idol 2014 Top 12 finalist Emily Piriz made a bold move on Wednesday night when she decided to sing “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez. We always think it is risky to dare to perform a song by one of the American Idol judges right in front of them. Sometimes it works out great and the contestant gets brownie points for daring. Other times, it ends up being a massive failure and just embarrassing all around.
For Emily Piriz, her performance of “Let’s Get Loud” landed somewhere in the middle. While Jennifer Lopez was very enthusiastic about the song (we think maybe a little too much so), the other American Idol judges were not so thrilled. Harry thought the song and the production was too big for her, and we have to agree with him.
In our ears, we thought the song was very off-key and bland. Plus, it’s a song that really doesn’t do anyone’s vocals any justice, even Jennifer Lopez herself. This is a song to dance to, not a song to show off your skills as a singer, and we think it was just yet another bad song choice from last night’s Top 12 performance show.
