In Other News: Paula Abdul Confirmed As X Factor Begins Filming

Another off-topic post, but still former American Idol related news so here we go. Simon Cowell’s X Factor began filming its 2011 season today with audition episodes and guess who was just confirmed as one of his co-judges: Paula Abdul.

Sure, it’s no surprise that Simon snagged Paula and we saw it coming a mile away, but it took until the 11th hour to make it happen as her contract was still being worked yesterday evening. Paula will now take her seat next to Simon’s other confirmed judges: LA Reid and Cheryl Cole. Reid was confirmed weeks ago but Cole, an X Factor UK judge, just got the official nod last week.

Last minute contracts appears to be the new show’s theme as even the hosts were still being worked out in the past few days. Previously it was rumored that Corbin Bleu would be next to Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger but that was nixed (allegedly by Nicole, if you believe the rumors). Instead we’ll be getting X Factor UK guest judge Steve Jones in that role.

Now that half of X Factor 2011 judging will be American Idol alumni are you more or less inclined to tune in when the series premieres?

  2. Duh!!!! nothing exciting about X-Factor cos American Idol is still da best with Stefano and James and Haley there are no better talented kids out there can still the thunder.

    So JADED about Simon and Paula, enough said about these 2 judges cos they are not the fittest celebrity judges for this X Factor competition…..Only a true X Factor Megastar like MADONNA or PRINCE or BEYONCE can be the right Icon to be in the show cos the rest judges selected so far for this X Factor show are Crap.

    Just give me my American Idol for pure entertainment 🙂

    • Diva, sorry to break it to you, but there are a lot of talented kids out there. Every year, AI has a different set of contestants that are very good. X-Factor, I am sure will have just as talented kids as AI. Broaden your horizons.

      • If you haven’t seen it, take a peek at the Danyl Johnson audition from xfactor on youtube. He didn’t win that season, but that was one of the best auditions I have ever seen.

  3. Jlo is a best judges already noneed Paula to come back . Sorry to say that I'm so boring to see Paula on American Idol, she look too bride of herself but Jlo is different. Jlo is kind of a very beautifull girl in da world, a very sweet voice and super cute attitue . Dont need Paula even a little but need Jlo to stay here much . Love Jlo and James durbin much ;-*

  5. I will watch it because simon is on there, paula on there is partly iffy.

    I wish they would replace Randy on American Idol with Simon or even Jimmy as a judge, then the judging table would be perfected.

    • Maybe they should get Donald Trump to be a judge he’d tell the truth. LOL

      • Donald Trump tell the truth?!! He wouldn't know the truth if it's published in the paper; if it's clearly printed in court records.

  10. I am looking forward to X-Factor. I am very excited about Simon & Paula being reunited….If they go back to their original chemistry on Idol, they will be great.
