Adam Lambert Rejected by Glee Before American Idol (VIDEO)

American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert may just get a little thrill of revenge when he guest stars on Glee this Thursday night on November 7. Turns out the Grammy-nominated singer once auditioned for a role on the hit FOX show but was rejected because he was too old.

“It’s funny because I actually auditioned for the show before it started before I was cast on Idol,” Adam Lambert said in a preview video for this week’s Glee episode. “The casting director was like ‘well I love your voice, but I think you’re too old to be in the show.’ So I didn’t get it.”

Adam didn’t let the rejection get him down and went on to audition for American Idol. He was considered an early favorite on the show and made it all the way to the Top 2. Many fans were outraged when he didn’t win, losing out to Kris Allen that season. However, Adam is now a household name in the music business while his Top 2 rival has mostly faded into the background.

Since being rejected from Glee and being a runner-up on American Idol, Adam Lambert has released two solo albums, been nominated for an Grammy and had a number one album on the Billboard charts. This week, he’ll be adding a guest starring role on Glee to his resume. Check out more photos of Adam on Glee below! (Click the thumbnails for bigger pics. Photo source: FOX.)

Adam will play a character named Elliot Gilbert, aka Starchild, who auditions for a band being put together by Kurt (Chris Colfer), Santana (Naya Rivera), Demi Lovato (Dani), and Rachel (Lea Michele). Watch Adam Lambert on Glee this Thursday, Nov. 7 at 8PM ET on Fox.
