We still have a long way to go until that unhappy moment, however, and a lot of shows to enjoy before the American Idol finale rolls around. There will be plenty of time to be sad after the series is over. Meanwhile, we have the details for the 2016 American Idol schedule so you don’t miss a minute of the final season!

Once again, the American Idol season 15 schedule will kick off in January. This time around, the two-night, two-hour premiere shows will take place on Wednesday, January 6th and Thursday, January 7th from 8PM to 10PM ET/PT. After that, the schedule will change to just one hour on Wednesdays.

Later on in the season, the American Idol schedule will once again collapse down to just one show a week, consolidating performances and results into just one episode on Thursday nights. Just like last season.

The final season of American Idol wraps up in early April instead of late May so get ready for a short season. The early departure likely makes way for a mid-season run of a new series. I’m interested to see what they think can outperform Idol in those slots, but I’m sure they’ll try.
