Kelly Clarkson returned to American Idol last night for her performance of “People Like Us.” Not really the greatest song we’ve heard from her, but it’s always fun to see the original winner of American Idol back on that stage again.
Watch her performance video below and then decide who had a better showing last night: Kelly or Scotty McCreery’s “See You Tonight”?
I couldn’t even hear the beginning of Kelly’s song. I still believe the sound system has some not exactly dead spots on stage but spots where amplification is lower. Whatever it is, it makes the performer look bad. Kelly never had a problem with volume so it has to be something else. It’s happened other years as well as this year, and the contestants get criticized for it when I don’t think it’s their fault. I saw some of that outgoing Kelly of old from the first Idol season, and it was a pleasure to see. It was fun to see her with Mariah and Kelly’s reaction to talking with her. I liked both Kelly and Scotty. Would have liked to hear a couple more of those really low notes that Scotty hits in his song. Would rather hear more from Idol contestants of the past than some of the other “talent” they bring on. Would like to see Melinda Doolittle come back to sing, judge, or both.
