American Idol winner Scotty McCreery won “New Artist of the Year” last night at the Academy of Country Music Awards. McCreery faced competition from Brantley Gilbert and Hunter Hayes but emerged victorious. You can watch Scotty’s ACM acceptance speech in the video clip below.
Scotty also performed his new single “Water Tower Town” last night at the awards show. You’ll remember this song from his appearance last week during the Top 9 results show.
Congratulations to Scotty McCreery on his win as the ACM 2012 “New Artist of the Year.” Can’t wait to see what else the American Idol winner goes on to do next.

i always love scotty and he has always been my bet during last year’s AI and it paid off. he deserves to be rewarded with “New Artist of the Year” as he and his songs are so damn great — RoCK On, Scotty…!!!
Congratulations Scotty! So happy you won “New Artist of the Year in Country Music! Your song “Water Tower Town” though brief was, in my opinion, one of the best of the night. Your ability to connect with an audience is outstanding and IMO so important in any performance…if that is not present, being technically a good singer, is not enough. Also, IMO your public speaking is nothing short of professional. Guess, if I were judging you’d also win for best dressed of the night!! I’m a big fan, can you tell??? Lol
I don’t get the appeal — but he does seem like a good kid.
I wish him the best……but from a pure singing perspective — I just don’t get it. Then again — I never got George Strait either —

I don’t think he should have won last year. I’m not dogging the guy, he just wasn’t the best singer on the show. At the same time, he’s certainly improved since then. For that matter so has Lauren. I’d say Lauren is the most improved singer from when she was on Idol to her first year back.

My mother loves Scotty so much. Last year Scotty was her bet since the start of the show and he won! guess what this year, her bet is Phillip Phillips! 🙁 can’t believe that because mine is Jessica. I hope she’s wrong this year 🙂
