Gabby Barrett will reportedly be taking to the American Idol 2018 Top 14 stage, according to American Idol Spoilers that came out a little earlier this year. That means, even though we haven’t seen her audition yet, she will get her golden ticket to Hollywood, pass on through the Top 24 rounds, and onto the live shows with the rest of the American Idol Season 16 Top 14.

We were able to check out Gabby’s YouTube channel to hear her sing and it seems she’s a country girl, despite being from Pittsburgh, PA. Even the pop and R&B songs on the channel have a country spin on them. The 18-year-old, who was 17 when she auditioned, told her local news station Pittsburgh Action News 4 that making it on American Idol is a dream come true.

“American Idol has always been a dream of mine,” Gabby told the news station. “I would watch it when I was younger. My roots were kind of in R&B, but I always like Carrie Underwood. I always liked the country and the soulfulness in her voice, so I kind of combined both of them. It’s a mix of R&B and country. I want to kind of bring the Whitney Houston into country.”

We’ll have more on American Idol hopeful Gabby Barrett as soon as we see her audition air on ABC next week. Will she be the next Carrie Underwood (or the first Carrie Underwood/Whitney Houston hybrid)? We’ll definitely have to wait and see.

In the meantime, you can find more of Gabby on Instagram, Twitter, on Facebook, and even on YouTube with some of her additional performances.
