Garret Jacobs is among the American Idol 2018 Top 14 hopefuls, according to American Idol Spoilers that came out earlier this year. Garrett is one of the strongest contenders in the American Idol Season 16 Top 14, and after his audition that has since aired, we know he got his golden ticket to Hollywood and will also make it through the Top 24 cuts and onto the Top 14 live show where he will be voted on by America.

Garrett was 17 during his audition, but he recently tweeted that he is now 18. He is a senior in high school from Bossier City, LA. He wowed the judges with his version of “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown during the second night of American Idol Season 2018 auditions. “He is bad ass,” new Idol judge Luke Bryan said. “6’4,” he’s beautiful, you’re raw. You’re not just this polished thing, which is fun. We get the chance to watch you grow.”

Judge Katy Perry agreed with Luke. “You are spectacular to look at … what a smile,” Katy said to Garrett. “And I think you’ve got a good voice. You don’t have to be a great guitar player to be a great American Idol. I think you have something worth carving out.”

We expect to see Garrett go far into the competition, so be sure to check out some of his performances below, including his audition song that impressed the judging panel and earned him three yeses and a golden ticket to Hollywood.
