Kelly Clarkson’s political endorsement helps boost her album sales

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger

When “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson last week took to Twitter to talk about her fondness of GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, the initial response wasn’t very positive. Clarkson even found herself apologizing if she offended anyone. That never discussing politics and religion bit seems to still ring true.

But she stuck to her opinions and that has apparently paid off. CNN Money is attributing a boost in sales of Clarkson’s new album “Stronger” to her Paul endorsement.

According to CNN, her sales on Amazon increased 442 percent between Thursday and Friday, taking “Stronger” from No. 38 to No. 7 on the sales chart. The album also landed at No. 13 on iTunes.

A person who bought her album on Amazon said “I must admit I have not really followed you but your recent stance on Ron Paul made me check you out. If you are smart enough to support Ron Paul then you are probably talented too.”

  1. Why should she apologize for stating who she is supporting. That has nothing to do with her music. She is a very talented young lady and I hope she does not let people intimidate her to not share her opinions and beliefs.

  2. My opinion on her hasn’t changed because of her political endorsement, she should not have to apologize for supporting any candidate for any office it’s her right as an American to do so.

  3. No one said she should apologize, we’re just being clear that she did not apologize because she doesn’t have to. It’s her life and her decision.

  4. Her political endorsement certainly boost her album sales. That is free advertisement and brilliant strategy.
