MacKenzie Bourg American Idol 2016 Homecoming [VIDEOS]

What a fantasy come true it must it be to have your hometown declare a special day in your honor and have hundreds of screaming fans lining up to see you perform? Well, that dream became a reality for American Idol 2016 finalist MacKenzie Bourg this past weekend during his hometown visit to Lafayette, Louisiana.

On his arrival back home, the young singer was given a key to the city in honor of “MacKenzie Bourg Day” and was the star of honor in his very own parade through town. MacKenzie became obviously emotional during his ride through town, overwhelmed by the huge turnout of support. Even though the parade reportedly ended up being over an hour late to start, according to The Advocate, the streets were still lined with a horde of MacKenzie fans.

MacKenzie also visited the University of Louisiana to sing the National Anthem at a baseball game. he also enjoyed a bit of a tailgate party as well, and got to indulge in some hometown grub he’d been missing while the cameras rolled. “I never thought I would be videoed eating crawfish,” Bourg told reporters, according to KATC.com. “A lot of people, when I talk about how much I miss crawfish, they have no idea what I’m talking about.So now it’s cool to educate a few people.”

After his time at the college, MacKenzie Bourg rolled on with his camera crew to his old high school, St. Thomas More. There he was presented with a basketball jersey and performed some tunes for the crowd. During his concert, Bourg joked that four months ago he was doing “nothing” and now suddenly “everyone cares.” He told his fans that it was “really cool and really special” that they all came out for him.

The American Idol 2016 finalist was just astounded by the whole experience of his hometown visit. “It’s unbelievable,” Bourg said about all the support from everyone. “It’s a surreal feeling to be in this moment. I’m just trying to take it all in.”

“This has surpassed every expectation I could imagine,” Bourg said of the mass of people who turned out for his hometown visit, according to The Advocate. “Thanks for making this one fo the best days of my life.”
