American Idol 2010 Top 9 Perform Tonight

american_idol_2010_top_9_perform

The British are coming! Tonight on American Idol 2010 the remaining Top 9 singers will take to the stage and relive the songs of two of the most famous singers who came to us during the 1964 British Invasion: Paul McCartney and John Lennon of The Beatles. The song selections will come from these two singer-songwriters rather than The Beatles’ catalog.

Still no confirmation on who will be this week’s mentor, but the obvious suspect would be John Lennon’s ghost Paul McCartney. That’d be a tall order, but maybe we’ll see it happen. If it’s not Paul, who would you think would be a great mentor? And if you say, “Miley,” I’m going to reach through the screen and shake you!

  1. Not a Beatles fan so I am not sure how to take tonignt..just not my kind of music. Hey Matt, Miley is not so bad compare to the popular Taylor Swift. If she is a mentor then I will surely puke. The one I refuse to talk about should provide some comedy tonight.

  2. There’s a rumor going around that Adam Lambert will be the mentor for the Top 8 next week. He will mentor from a former contestant perspective which has never been done on ai before. Don’t know if it’s true but we will soon find out.

  3. Funny, reading all the comments on website, how many different favourites we all have, for different reasons.

I guess that is the reason why the music industry is so diverse!

When reading many posts, people seem to love one contestant, whilst berating others…

Some seem to find the need to type in CAPS even though they know that in the computer world it is regarded as shouting… These people, I believe do it because they want everyone to note their comment, but to me it is rude. Also, is shows a certain insecurity of people who type in Caps.

For my point I think Crystal is miles ahead of Lee, who in turn is miles ahead of the rest. Despite his undoubted popularity, Aaron is one of my least favourites because his voice has simply not matured yet.

I agree with some comments that Lilly went home way too soon, but I think there is more to it than her getting voted off (as indeed the same applies to Paige).

  4. Ah! You never know, the mentor could be Sir Paul…who ever is mentor gets HUGE free publicity!
Checkout my thoughts on the top 9:

  5. ASHLEY….FROM YOUR LIPS TO THE MUSIC GOD’S EAR. I CAN ONLY HOPE BUT I WAS HOPING HE WOULD BE IN THE FINALE BUT I HAVEN’T HEARD ANYTHING ON HIS WEBSITE.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BEATLE NIGHT BEATS THE TOP 100 BILLBOARD SONGS (AGAIN)!!!!!

  6. I wish everyone would lay off Tim Urban. The judges originally thought he had talent and enough people in America obviously agree. It isn’t his fault he is still on so lose the hate. He may not be as strong vocally as others but he definitely has his own niche he could be successful in. Radio has a long list of popular artists without voices as pleasant as his.

  7. I have three categories at this point. First, I want to listen to Siobhan and Crystal. Second, Mike, Casey and Lee are learning fast and may become interesting soon. Third, the rest all have important vocal problems and haven’t shown any progress in solving them.

The competition is still wide open. Only Crystal can really deliver the lyric and make listeners understand it. That’s why many people rank her the best. Any of the rest can learn to do it too. The winner will be the person who best sells the lyrics.

Pay attention to the song, not the judges!

  8. I love Tim Urban’s voice! It reminds me of Mraz or one republic or a james Taylor/Michael Buble mix that is refreshing, current and sexy. I love his personality! He is awesome!

  9. Paul McCartney would be great but it’ll probably be Yoko Ono ( wouldn’t that be a hoot ) or Ringo Starr.

  10. I just read an article that said there is no guest mentor for this week so the contestants had to tackle Lennon/McCartney on their own. I hope it was wrong because they definitely need the mentors. It has been confirmed that Adam Lambert will help the finalists next week and will perform “Whattaya Want From Me” on Wednesday night.

  11. It is going to be Adam Lambert next week guys and he will perform “whatdya want from me” On april 14 on the results show!!Cant wait

  12. Would be a mistake not to have a mentor. As someone said 2 hours would be very difficult to fill. Somehow I am waiting to be Sir Paul there. He was on X factor this year so maybe Simon talked him to do AI also. Lets wait and good luck tonight to the contestants.

  13. i hope its some beatles hits that they perform…
idk about lambert next week though…. dont really want to have a loser perspective….. hahaha

  14. i think Lee DeWyze is going to win american idol 2010 he is talented. he has the best voica of everyone on the show AND HE IS CUTE SO CUTE

  15. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING IDOLS SINCE IT STARTED. I MUST SAY IT IS THE MOST BORING IDOLS TO DATE
