Fox has announced the premiere date for American Idol 2010! Season 9 of Idol will debut on Tuesday, January 12th at 8pm (ET/PT) with a 2-hour launch followed by a 1-hour episode the ext night, Wednesday. After that American Idol will air each Tuesday and Wednesday night with a 1-hour episode.
Don’t forget that Paula Abdul will not be returning to the judges’ panel this season but will be replaced by Ellen DeGeneres. Welcoming Ellen will be Simon, Randy, and Kara. But before Ellen sits down to join them there will be many guest judges to help across the country for the audition phase.

Normally I would be looking forward to the new shows, I love the auditions and Hollywood weeks, but I have to say, this year…. I don’t care! Fox should have done more to keep Paula and ellen d. Come on, Richard Simmmons would be more entertaining than her. She should never have been asked on the show, she is not a musician, she should not be a judge. With all the musical talent why in the world would they pick her?
Ellen will be great..what difference does it make anyways. If it were up to the judges, or people that know talent,Adam would have won by a literal no contest landslide..it’s obviously the 12 year olds that determine the winner..last year proved that..need I say more?
Since Ellen appears to have snubbed Danny Gokey last season when she had the other top Idols on her show, I am not thrilled she is the new judge. She will have to prove herself worthy to me before I know she is not going to “play favorites” as a judge like she did lat season when she had the contestants on her own show.
all the judges played favorites..or played one favorite, and that was Adam..what good did that do..and…what makes you think it was Ellen’s decision not to have Danny…Perhaps Danny didn’t want to do the show..That would be more like it, obviously…Danny Gokey..please..are you one of the 12 year olds that voted 4,000 times for Kris, because Danny didn’t make it?
actually the judges playing Adam as favorite was clearly for ratings,and doing everything they could to make sure he reached the finals show, because they knew if he didn’t make it, the ratings would have plummeted so bad, there wouldn’t have been an Idol 2010..So good for Adam in the long run that he didn’t win anyways..

I’m not sure that I will ever watch Idol again. I would like to know what idiot decided to get rid of Paula and keep Kara. I can’t stand her and she adds nothing to the show. The song she wrote for the winning idol was terrible. It was even cut from the tour. How could they even consider keeping her after that? I think this is the start of the demise of Idol.
Not looking forward anymore – the hype’s gone. No one likes Kara and I’m not sure what the producers have in mind for keeping her when it’s clear she’s pulling down the ratings. Paula’s great, and Ellen can be a great new intro to the line of judges. It’s a shame – but looks like American Idol has finally seen the end of it’s exciting life.

Number 1, you had the best last season with
Adam Lambert. No. 2, for me the show will not be the same without Paula. She added so much to the mood of the show. Noone can fill her
shoes as far as I am concerned. I don’t trust the voting system anymore. In the past, I would
make it a point to see the show. Not anymore.
I loved AI for a long time but now there has to be a limit to the household votes (one vote per number dialed in) then there will be a better chance for fairness in the program. Sorry to see Paula go (it should have been Kara to go). Ellen should be replacing Kara. But seriously, the votes should be limited to one per number or it is going to be the ruination of the show. These children need to leave room for other age groups to participate in the voting. Until that happens, I will not be voting but I will watch the show because there is some amazing talents which will get reconized even if they don’t win AI.
Don’t think I will watch AI this year. Abdul and Cowell were great together; Kara is a zero and now that the truth is out about Adam, I think the show is a lot of baloney. The depicted Adam as this nice, polite gay guy with all kinds of talent. He does have some talent but it is projected in the wrong direction to be called an American Idol. HIs perfomances after AI prove he is not so nice, not polite, having given his audience the finger at the AMA show, and is definitely a deviant, something America does not need more of.
I totally love American Idol and look forward to it every year! I think Ellen will be a great edition to the judging panel since she will represent really the viewing public. I am not a fan of Kara either and the song she wrote for the finale really was terrible. Its to bad Paula left and I really think she will regret that decision. Hey getting a million dollar paycheck wasn’t so bad I sure would jump at the chance!

I think Ellen will be great. She has never claimed to know anything about music. She said she would be judging like she would be one of us. I think that is a great idea. Because most people that vote have no clue about music anyway so why not Ellen. I love her and think she will do a great job.
On Danny Gokey, he probably didn’t want to go on Ellen because she is gay. We all know how he felt about Adam.
There will never be another Adam Lambert but it is still fun to watch AI. I don’t think AI is going any where. I think the rating will still be high. Not as high as with Adam but still very entertaining and isn’t that what we watch it for?
It was time for Paula to go. She will do fine in whatever she does. I think we needed some new faces.

I love idol but I am not sure how it will work with Kara and Ellen, Will have to see. I am hoping it is not going to be weeks of auditions. I got bored with that last season. I don’t mind a little of that but the endless episodes of it got old. I love the competitions. That’s what really makes the show.

Simon keeps saying, “this is a singing competiton,” but it really is a popularity contest. There needs to be a component added that will eliminate popularity from overshadowing the talent. Re Ellen, I was disappointed to see her selected when so many people in the music business could have been chosen.

I stopped watching AI after Season 3 cause it started being the same oh, same oh every year..the same bantor, etc. I may actually start watching it now that Ellen’s one of the judges. I really like Ellen and think she’s funny and upbeat. I believe she’ll add an interesting element to AI that wasn’t there before.
I really wanted Allison or danny to win but I am not going to stop watching because of it, also I am not crazy about having Ellen on the show but again not enough of a reason to stop watching so i my mind those are stupid reasons and if you really liked the show you wouldn’t stop watching, if you do not watch …….oh well who cares, idol will be around for a long time. Ellen will tell it like it is and won’t candy coat it, plus you will put Simon in his place.
My wife and I enjoyed American Idol in the past, but we will no longer watch it. Fox has turned this program into a promotion of the gay agenda. It came through load and clear last yeat with Adam Lambert, and now with Ellen Degenerate.

I love american idol but I despise Ellen deguines and will not watch any episodes when she is on there. Of course I know that finding truly great talent is difficult unless the truly great talents actually audition (it seems they don’t); it would be wonderful to see someone win who isn’t merely mediocre as almost all have been thus far. The program caters to a younger audience which aren’t familiar with the high caliber of artists from the past; the older generation is looking to see that standard come back, but I doubt it can happen on American Idol, Susan Boyle notwithstanding, of course!

We don’t need jokes on AI, we need opinions and comments from judges who know music..The show is about talent but seeing how many non-talented people audition for AI, AMERICA needs help in hearing opinions to help their choices..Simon is about 95% correct, Randy is about 90% correct, Paula was “middle of the road” trying to be more understanding and Kara was more concerned that everyone had to agree with her opinions or she got p..sed.. Hopefully, AI idea of guest judges is a good way of auditioning future replacement..SMART!

P.S.I was muscical director for many broadway muscials performed in Chicago area and have auditioned thousand or more singers over the years.So,for my years of experience I do know a little bit and have learned to keep an open ear and mind..
I love this show, and I hope that anonymous person (Guess who) was someone from AI who actually reads these and cares about our opinions. Enough with the gay-bashing! That has nothing to do with a person’s talent, or ability to be a good judge. True, Ellen is not a musician, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have taste in music, and know whats she likes, like any other person. She will be a breath of fresh air. Hopefully her easy-going nature will rub off on Simon and Kara, who get waaay too uptight. I agree with the one who said one vote per household. That is only fair. Let the people speak, and have a fair contest. I don’t even bother to vote as it is, but if they made a point of saying there will only be one vote allowed per household/number, I’d consider it.
After all of these years, I am sorry, I am not looking forward to seeing Ellen on the show. Now Paula is gone, Simon is leaving and the show is sleeping, it will be interesting to see what the future brings.
I am hopeful, but not confident, I think we may finally be seeing the death of the show.
I am actually excited to see how everything plays out this season…I am gonna miss Paula,she and Simon kept things interesting and I think she kept everthing “real” as far as being honest without hurting the contestants feelings as only she could! I like Ellen, I think she will bring some personality to the show…However, if Simon leaves the show, The show will have absolutely 0 ratings! please dont go Simon!!!! PS Ryan you are awesome! but my idea of a getting high ratings again would be to get paula back, keep ellen, and boot out kara and convince Simon to stay!
If anyone has ever sat from 10am to 6pm auditioning singers, dancers and actors, it is not fun and is gets boring…If not for AI editing and judges overall comments, people would never watch the audition part of the series..So, the judges have much to do with the beginning success and they will set the final grouping for us to vote for and hear sing for over two months..Their comments and opinions have much to do with the future of AI. I do not watch other talent shows because of the judges’ stupid, aggravating laughs and comments..I guess AI will reach that point with me.
So? Ellen will be a breath of fresh air, she may not know music, but did Simon, in his earliest beginnings? She can dance, relates well to audiences and gay or not, seems to be a very nice human being. However, I WILL miss Paula ever so much, and would miss Randy if he left. Give Kara a chance, she has a kind heart and Idol needs that. I will very much miss Simon and Paula’s repartee, we enjoyed that. You never knew if they hated, or loved…each other! I absolutely love AI and can’t wait for the new season. I’ve been laughing at all the gay-basher comments. So much for tolerance and peace on earth. Ellen is awesome and will be fun to watch. I like Kara’s input. The finale last year against bikini-girl was the BEST finale of AI ever. Bring on the talent whether gay, straight or martian. We just love to watch it and vote for our fav’s. The religious hatemongers can have their own show on any of their wacko channels and leave the rest of us alone. As a christian believer, I’m still for the freedom of America and the right to choose. As Guess Who says, it’s not about the judges, it’s all about the talent. The contestants who get past the auditions and make it to the show work hard to make a dream come true. Personally, I have NEVER watched this show but I will this season. More than anything, I want to see a dream come true for someone who deserves it! Watch and vote…I think you will be AMAZED at the talent you will witness this year!

I love AI and can’t wait for new season. Voters got it right last season and not the judges. This is not about the judges, it is about the talent and the voters.
You people that say you will never watch Idol again because PAULA is not going to be there anymore. Come on get a life. AI is entertainment and is not a hit because of PA. It is fun and entertaining and I can bet that the people that say they aren’t going to watch will watch. I also think Ellen will be fantastic and a fresh fun addition to the panel. Ellen will be the voice of the people and look at the talent through our eyes which is a good thing. So people get over it and enjoy watching American Idol instead of complaining that Paula is not there.
Sure hope America chooses the winner based on talent this year.

I don’t watch AMER IDOL anymore because Paula left the show! She brought a lot of credibility to the show. I haven’t watched it & WON’T, this 2010 season. And speaking of disappointing TV-shows, I will no longer watch The Apprentice,this 2010 season, either. This show has also totally lost its credibility! Back to the Scrabble & Monopoly board games for me.
I had to watch the show giving it the “Benefit of the doubt” and because of all the comments.. AI has some of the best editing crew. They have made the show more interesting with their slicing and dicing of film. Many ridiculous comments by judges were cut short and edited..Thank god, especially thoses from guest judges…and Thank god for Randy..Simon is Simon as always…Believe it or not, Kara is getting more appealing and sexier…Good work there AI and Kara…

I’m not sure how you can be a judge without stating who you think did a great job and who didn’t . . . even Paula was reduced to complimenting their clothes when they sang bad. I just think people always go for the underdog which wasn’t Adam, remember Sanjya. Also, no matter how we slice it, there are a zillion people who are uncomfortable with the idea of gays and who are responsible for the utmost cruelty, either in word or deed. They would turn their backs on their own children. I think Adam will have a good career. His talent should keep him going. Daughtrey is doing ok too. I’ll still vote, if only to cancel out the hate vote.

I have 10 homes and I’m helping AI all the time too. They ask me my opinion. I live all over the world so I can give them life experience. Ellen asked me about her hair and I said ‘go shorter’. I think it worked out well. Adam called me the other day and I told him to stay with the black goth-glam look, it’s working for him. Now I think Randy is doing ok but he gets depressed and I have to give him a peptalk every now and then. I’ll be in Hollywood next year since I’m buying a house there. The judges did not know what to say about it either. I was not impressed..The “back stage music help” got to work on all to improve their stage present and showmanship.
No great star has showed up yet! AI could quickly remove four ladies and four men from the show tonight if they could..BUT!.I am sure someone will set themselves apart from all the others very soon..

THATS IT FOR HIM, ON WITH ELLEN,…ELLEN IS NERVOUS, THINGS ARE TAKING HER BY SURPRISE, EXSPECIALLY IF CERTAIN PEOPLE DON’T LIKE HER…(gay or not…) CAN’T ACT LIKE THAT. Guess Who…Someone said earlier that AI was only for the talent and not about the judges….
When I said both make to show, I had many negative comments…I think we both can agee now, that the talent and judges evenly make it a successful show…and when it is not handled correctly, there are problems…which is what is happening now…I do like the other aspect on what is happening in the show and can see the personality conflicts…It’s a trip…I have not been paying as much attention to the singing as to what is happening/listening to what comes out of the judges mouths. Hi Guess Who…So far it has been Crystal and most are saying the same too..She has to put down the guitar and use the stage more to show her stage presents…All the singers that are playing an instrument seem to be using it as their security blanket and do not work the audience…They would shine more for those that know how to do it because all vocals are not has strong has other years.
