American Idol 2018 semifinalist Jonny Brenns slowed things down during Sunday night’s Top 24 Solo Performances with his smooth rendition of Vance Joy’s “Georgia.”
The judges, led by Lionel Richie unloaded nothing but praise onto a very happy Jonny.
“Jonny, am I sensing the sexy coming out?” Lionel ask him. “It went from the shy guy to … you are blooming. You just have to get comfortable in your own skin. You’re actually coming alive.”
Katy Perry says she’s confident in what Jonny is becoming as performer. “I’ve believed in you from day number one,” she said to a smiling Jonny. “I’m encouraged to see how far you’ve come. And I think you’ve got it. Your song choice was perfect.”
Luke Bryan thinks Jonny has what it takes to make it in the business as long as he owns it. “Dude, you are a big star, you just don’t quite all the way know it yet,” Luke said. “What is amazing, is you really have such a smooth voice that nobody is expecting. Good job. You’ve got all the tools.”
