With just a few weeks left in the American Idol race to the top for Season 14 these performances are more critical than ever, but as we also learned last week, things can get pretty emotional.

Thankfully Harry and Quentin appear to have made nice since their dust up and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the pair hug it out tonight. Too much to ask for a Sonny & Cher duet? Okay, probably too much.

We’re live recapping the Top 6 performances here so stay with us during tonight’s episode to find out which contestant has earned your supports and votes along with the results of this week’s Idol Fan Save.

How to vote for tonight’s contestants:

Jax performs “Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Guy)”

I don’t see this (or any of the other songs actually) as an arena song, but it was at least upbeat and energetic. It wasn’t my favorite song for her vocally, but it wasn’t a bad performance. I just didn’t really enjoy it and felt like it restricted her a bit.

How to vote for Jax:

  • Text: 7 to 21523

Nick Fradiani performs “Harder to Breathe”

Well another song that’s not an arena song, but that’s OK. It wasn’t Nick’s best by any means. I mean it was high-energy, but the whole thing was just sort of all over the place. I don’t think this was the right choice for Nick.

How to vote for Nick:

  • Text: 6 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-06

Clark Beckham performs “Yesterday”

Clark can do no wrong vocally, but this was sort of boring. I mean again, the vocals were perfect and the arrangement was different, so that was good. But it was sort of sleepy. But it was emotional and tight, so I think he has no worries.

How to vote for Clark:

  • Text: 9 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-09

Tyanna  Jones performs “Party in the USA”

I’m not sure why she started off flat and never actually regained her pitch, but that unfortunately happened. I love Tyanna, but this was not my favorite performance by her. Like at all. I can’t even think of anything nice to say about it.

How to vote for Tyanna:

  • Text: 5 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-05

Quentin Alexander performs “Light My Fire”

I liked this performance actually, which I think might be the first one of his I really liked. I think the song choice was good, but I think the arrangement might have been a miss. At any rate, I don’t think he’s going to earn the Idol fan save this week.

How to vote for Quentin:

  • Text: 11 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-11

Rayvon Owen Performs “I’m Not The Only One”

So, normally at this point I’d say OK, this was just to boring. But this was actually really good. It was smooth and emotional and the vocals were definitely some of his best. I think he could again earn the Idol fan save.

How to vote for Quentin:

  • Text: 2 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-02

Nick Fradiani performs “Maggie Mae”

I think this was a much better performance than Nick’s first. He really owned the song and commanded the stage. Nick really has grown a lot from the beginning of the competition.

How to vote for Nick:

  • Text: 6 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-06

Tyanna Jones performs “Heaven”

This was a side of Tyanna we haven’t seen and it was amazing. I’m so happy she had this great moment following her first mediocre performance. I loved her look and the vocals and the dramatics of it all.

How to vote for Tyanna:

  • Text: 5 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-05

Clark Beckham performs “Boyfriend”

This was a smart performance for a number of reasons. For one, this is a different kind of song and performance by Clark. Secondly, he’s singing about being someone’s boyfriend. A lot of fans are going to like that. And finally, he can still do no wrong.

How to vote for Clark:

  • Text: 9 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-09

Jax performs “White Flag”

OK this is the most un-Arena song of the night. But it was also a great performance, so whatever. They shouldn’t have made this the theme. So weird. Anyway, I liked the arrangement, the performance and her look. I think this was one of her better performances.

How to vote for Jax:

  • Text: 7 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-07

Quentin Alexander performs “Shake it Out”

This was another solid performance by Quentin. I’m starting to wonder now if he will actually beat Rayvon in the Idol public vote. But that was good. I think he’s made  good effort this week.

How to vote for Quentin:

  • Text: 11 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-11

Rayvon Owen performs “Go Your Own Way”

I think is first performance was better, but the crowd surely liked this one. OK, I think Rayvon will again be safe this week. That high note will be his lifesaver, I think.

How to vote for Quentin:

  • Text: 2 to 21523
  • Call: 1-866-IDOLS-02

And the Idol fan save goes to … Rayvon Owen. Quentin Alexander has been eliminated.
