This week on American Idol 2014 the Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips returns to the stage where he was once crowned to deliver a performance of his new single “Raging Fire.”
The single, officially released on Monday through iTunes, is a love song as Phillips described it to Billboard, “It’s a love song, but it’s also a little heavier, too. It’s got a little bit of an edgier side to it, and I really like that.”
Phillips spent just three weeks creating his debut album (three weeks?!), so he’s enjoying getting to spend a little more time on this as of yet untitled album. The former American Idol winner described the new project as a “completely different album that’s going to show a different side of me.”
As for returning to the live American Idol results show, he’s looking forward to seeing familiar faces, but not at all excited for the live performances which bring on the anxiety. “I hate live television, and I’m gonna be scared to death when I get up there. It’s always a little nerve-wracking.”
